Biography

PRO: The Titans signed Sebastian Joseph-Day early in the 2024 offseason to bolster the experience, verstaility and depth of the defensive front. The 6-foot-4-inch, 310-pounder entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick of the L.A. Rams in 2018. After not seeing game action his entire rookie campaign, the Rutgers product appeared in 39 regular season games with 38 starts and amassed 137 tackles and six sacks in three seasons (2019-21) with the Rams. Joseph-Day joined the L.A. Chargers during the 2022 offseason and played in 30 regular season games with the club before joining the San Francisco 49ers for the playoff push late in 2023 regular season.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Joseph-Day has played in seven career postseason contests, including two Super Bowls, and capture the Lombardi trophy as a member of the L.A. Rams in 2021.
• In 2022, Joseph-Day started 16 games in his first season with the Chargers and set a career-best with 56 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

• While in Los Angeles, Joseph-Day was a co-host of a podcast with boxing legend Mike Tyson. On the podcast, Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, Joseph-Day and Tyson interviewed Ne-Yo, Hasbulla, The Undertaker, Terrell Owens, T-Pain and Tony Hawk, among others.
• Joseph-Day, who's nickname is 'Bash,' has hosted a digital series called 'Dine N Bash.' The show combines his passion for food and culture, highlighting local Los Angeles restaurants and sharing their origin stories, top dishes and what makes them unique. Joseph-Day began the show during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to showcase local businesses.

SEASON RECAPS:
2023 (14/14 - L.A. Chargers; 2/0, 3/0 - San Francisco): Started the first 14 games of the season with the Chargers and collected 32 tackles, three sacks and 25 quarterback pressures. Released by the Chargers on Dec. 22. Signed by the 49ers as a free agent on Dec. 27 and saw action as a reserve in the final two regular season contests, amassing five tackles. Played as a reserve in all three postseason games and registered three tackles.
• At Minnesota (9/24), registered four tackles, including a five-yard sack of Kirk Cousins in the third quarter.
• Against Dallas (10/16), posted three tackles, including a sack of Dak Prescott.

2022 (16/16, 1/1 - L.A. Chargers): Started 16 games along the defensive front in his first season with the Chargers, totaling a career-high 56 tackles, including eight tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Became the first interior defensive lineman since 2010 to have 50 tackles, eight tackles for loss and an interception in a single season. Was inactive for one contest. Started the postseason contest and notched three tackles, including a half sack.
• Against Jacksonville (9/25), registered seven tackles and a tackle for loss. Dropped Travis Etienne for a loss of four yards in the fourth quarter.
• At Houston (10/2), logged three solo stops, including a six-yard sack of Davis Mills on third down in the fourth quarter to force a fourth-and-long, which led to a Chargers interception.
• Against Seattle (10/23), collected four tackles, including the fourth-quarter stop of Kenneth Walker III behind the goal line to register a safety. Partnered with Troy Reeder on the safety, registering the first of the season for the Bolts and first safety by a Chargers defensive unit since the 2020 season finale.
• Against Kansas City (11/20), tallied four tackles, adding a forced fumble of Patrick Mahomes on a scramble, his first forced fumble since 2020 and first as a member of the Chargers.
• At Arizona (11/27), collected two solo tackles and a fumble recovery in the road win. On Arizona's opening drive, landed on a fumble caused by Derwin James Jr., to corral his first career fumble recovery.
• Against L.A. Rams (1/1), totaled four tackles, including a sack, in his first game against his former team. On third-and-nine in the fourth quarter, dropped Baker Mayfield for a loss of 10 yards, registering his second sack of the season. Contributed to a defense that allowed just 111 net passing yards, the second-fewest allowed in a single game to that point.
• At Denver (1/8), closed out the regular season with his first career interception, while adding one tackle. In the third quarter, hauled in a Russell Wilson deflected pass to log his first career pick, returning the takeaway four yards.
• At Jacksonville (1/14), tallied three tackles, including a half-sack, to go along with a pass defensed in the wild card matchup. Partnered with Kenneth Murray Jr. to drop Trevor Lawrence for a sack in the opening stanza. Notched a pass defensed after deflecting a pass that eventually led to a Drue Tranquill interception.

2021 (7/7, 1/0 - L.A. Rams): Started the first seven games and collected 38 tackles and three sacks before suffering an injury. Was inactive for one contest before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 5. Missed the final nine regular season games and three postseason contests before being designated to return on Feb. 11 in time for Super Bowl LVI.
• At Indianapolis (9/19), collected a career-high nine tackles and brought down Carson Wentz to tally his first sack of the season.
• Against Arizona (10/3), amassed eight tackles in the divisional bout, including a sack of Kyler Murray on a third-and-nine in the third quarter — his second-career sack of the Arizona signalcaller.
• Against Detroit (10/24), notched five tackles and a sack of his former teammate Jared Goff in the third quarter.
• Against Cincinnati (2/13), activated off of injured reserve for Super Bowl LVI and aided in the Rams' win over the Bengals to claim the franchise's second world championship.

2020 (16/16, 2/2 - L.A. Rams): Started all 16 regular season games and tallied 55 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and three passes defensed. Started both postseason contests and notched eight tackles.
• Against Dallas (9/13), started the season opener on the defensive line and tallied three tackles with one quarterback hit on Dak Prescott.
• Against N.Y. Giants (10/4), started along the defensive line and posted four solo tackles.
• Against Seattle (11/15), started along the defensive line and recorded three solo tackles in addition to his second-career pass defensed.
• Against San Francisco (11/29), started along the defensive line and recorded seven tackles and the first forced fumble of his career.

2018 (0/0, 0/0 - L.A. Rams): Spent the entire season on the Rams 53-man roster, but was inactive for all 16 regular season games and three postseason contests.

COLLEGE:
• Saw action in 50 career games, including 49 consecutive contests to end his five-year career (2013-17) at Rutgers. Compiled 97 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
• As a senior (2017), started all 12 games at nose tackle and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten in the coaches' vote. Split the Homer Hazel Award as the team's MVP and was honored as the team's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Totaled 41 tackles with 4.5 for a loss, 1.5 sacks, a pass defensed, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal. Named to the Academic All-Big Ten list for the third-straight year.
• As a junior (2016), played in all 12 games with 11 starts at nose tackle and collected 30 tackles, 3.5 stops for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal. Named to the Academic All-Big Ten list.
• As a sophomore (2015), started all 12 games at nose tackle and finished third on the team with 5.5 stops for loss to go along with 22 tackles. Was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.
• As a redshirt freshman (2014), played in all 13 games on the defensive line and registered three total tackles on the season.
• As a freshman (2013), appeared in one game, recording a tackle for loss in collegiate debut. Redshirted after suffering an injury.
• Graduated with a degree in journalism and media studies from Rutgers. Was a graduate student in the labor studies program in his final year with the Scarlet Knights.

PERSONAL:
• Attended Joe Bernard (Stroudsburg, Pa.) High School and was rated as the No. 30 prospect out of the state of Pennsylvania by Rivals.
• As a senior, totaled 40 tackles, with 17 stops for loss, to go with two forced fumbles. Helped lead the Mountaineers to back-to-back Mountain Valley Conference champions with a 10-2 record in his final season. Accepted a bid to play in the Chesapeake Bowl, which is a senior-only high school all-star game presented by the Mid Atlantic Football Foundation and the Maryland Sports Commission.
• As a junior, picked up 25 tackles and six sacks as a part of a defensive unit that held opponents to an average of 13.4 points per game.
