Biography

PRO: The Titans signed Shad Banks Jr. as a rookie free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11-inch, 230-pound linebacker showcases a mix of athleticism and agressiveness and will look to make a difference on special teams at the pro level. The Houston, Texas native played four seasons at Texas Christian (2021-24) before transferring to Texas-San Antonio (2025) for his final collegiate campaign.

TITANS TIDBITS:
• Despite playing only linebacker at the collegiate level, Banks was a prolific wide receiver in high school. In 2020, he was named a first-team MaxPreps All-American receiver and selected as the Texas District 21-6A Offensive Most Valuable Player at wide out.

• The Houston, Texas, native was signed by the Titans as a rookie free agent on April 30, 2026.

COLLEGE: 
• Saw action in 55 games with 23 starts over five seasons at Texas-San Antonio (2025) and Texas Christian (2021-24). In his lone season with the Roadrunners started all 13 games and amassed 94 tackles, 7.5 stops for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two passes defensed, a pair of quarterback pressures and a forced fumble. Appeared in 42 career games with 10 starts for the Horned Frogs and recorded 114 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, an interception and a pass defensed dating back to the 2021 season.

AS A GRADUATE (2025), named first-team All-American Conference at linebacker after starting all 13 games in his lone season at Texas-San Antonio.  Led the Roadrunners with 94 total tackles, 56 solo stops, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.  Also posted 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two passes defensed, a pair of quarterback pressures and a forced fumble.  Logged three games with double-digit tackles. 
• At Colorado State (9/20), registered a season-high 11 tackles in the 17-16 road win.
• Against Rice (10/11), recorded six tackles with one stop for a loss, returned a fumble 41 yards for a touchdown and forced a fumble in the 61-13 rout.
• Against East Carolina (11/22), named the American Conference Defensive Player of the Week after tallying 10 tackles, including a stop for loss. Also returned an interception 21 yards for a touchdown, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass in the 58-24 triumph.

AS A SENIOR (2024), appeared in just four games due to injury and collected a tackle. After the conclusion of the season, he entered the NCAA transfer portal.

AS A JUNIOR (2023), saw action in 12 games with eight starts at linebacker and led the Horned Frogs with 8.5 stops for loss while placing third on the team with 62 tackles.  Posted at least one tackle for loss in eight games.
• Against BYU (10/14), notched seven tackles, including a stop for loss, in the 44-11 win.
• Against Baylor (11/18), tallied two tackles for loss among eight stops in the 42-17 win.
• At Oklahoma (11/24), closed the season with a career-high 11 tackles, including a stop for loss and a quarterback hurry.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2022), played in all 15 games with two starts against Texas and in the Big 12 Championship Game against Kansas State.  Registered 39 tackles, including a sack, four stops for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.  Had at least one tackle for loss four times in a late season five-game stretch.  Averaged 27.0 yards on three kickoff returns for the season.
• At Kansas (10/8), recovered a Jayhawks fumble at the Horned Frogs one-yard line in the 38-31 victory. Also had a 37-yard kickoff return on his first career attempt.
• Against Texas Tech (11/5), recorded his first career sack as part of a then career-best five tackles in the 34-24 victory.
• Against Kansas State (12/3), posted a career-high and team-best 10 tackles with a stop for loss in the Big 12 Championship Game.

AS A TRUE FRESHMAN (2021), played as a reserve in 11 games at linebacker and on special teams.  Totaled 12 tackles, an interception and a stop for loss.  Tied for the team lead with four special teams tackles. 
• Against Baylor (11/6), secured the game-saving interception with 1:03 to play in the 30-28 win over No. 12 Bears. Also had a tackle for loss in the game.
• Graduated with a degree in youth advocacy from Texas Christian University in Dec. 2024.

PERSONAL:  
• Attended North Shore (Harris County, Texas) High School.
• As a senior (2020), named a first-team MaxPreps All-American and District 21-6A Offensive Most Valuable Player as a wide receiver.
• As a junior (2019), limited to just five games because of injury, but was still first-team all-district as North Shore High School went 15-1 and won its second consecutive Texas 6A D-I state championship.
• As a sophomore (2018), recorded 1,312 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, helping his school to a Class 6A Division I state title victory.
• Banks initially enrolled at Texas A&M in 2021, but entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal before the start of his freshman season.
