Biography

PRO: The Titans signed Shy Tuttle before the start of the 2025 season to add experience and depth to the defensive line room. The 6-foot-3-inch, 300-pounder has played in 95 games with 65 starts over seven NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints (2019-22) and Carolina Panthers (2023-24). Entering 2025, the University of Tennessee product has recorded 232 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one interception, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• In 2022, Tuttle recorded a career-high 49 tackles and matched his career-high with two sacks with the Saints.

TITANS TIDBITS:
• The University of Tennessee has a long-standing tradition of having freshman and newcomers done a black stripe on their helmet to indicate a road of hustle and hard work. Teammates and the coaching staff decide when a player has proven to demonstrate the qualities of a Volunteer and the black stripe is removed. During Tuttle's freshman season, he had his black stripe removed on Aug. 16 becoming just the second true freshman to have his removed that season.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Midway, N.C., native was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as a rookie free agent on May 10, 2019.
• Signed by the Carolina Panthers as an unrestricted free agent on March 17, 2023.
• Released by the Panthers on Aug. 26, 2025.
• Signed by the Titans as a free agent on Aug. 27, 2025.

COLLEGE:
• During a four-year career as a defensive tackle at Tennessee, Tuttle appeared in 35 games with 29 starts. He finished his career with 79 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, three passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and three blocked kicks.
• As a senior (2018), started all 12 games and finished with 33 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and two blocked kicks. Received the "Trenches Award" at the year-end banquet.
• As a junior (2017), appeared in 10 games with four starts and tallied 27 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss.
• As a sophomore (2016), played in seven games with one start and finished with nine tackles, one tackle for loss, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Was declared out for the remainder of the season in October due to an injury.
• As a freshman (2015), played in six games and recorded 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and a blocked field goal.
• Graduated with a degree in communications from Tennessee.

PERSONAL:
• Attended North Davidson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) High School and played for Coach Mark Holcomb, where he was named a five-star recruit by 247Sports and a four-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals.
• Member of ESPN 300 and selected to 2014 Shrine Bowl.
• Was a four-year starter and three-time All-Northwest selection. In four years, he tallied 315 tackles, 66 tackles for loss and 35 sacks.
• As a senior (2014), posted 67 tackles with 17 tackles for loss, five sacks and four forced fumbles on the way to a 11-2 record.
• Also played basketball and competed in track and field.
• Son of Consuelo Tuttle.
