PRO: The Titans claimed Zach Cunningham off waivers in early December 2021 to provide experience and depth in the linebacker corps. The 6-foot-3-inch, 238-pound defender possesses tremendous instincts and speed for the position and led the NFL in tackles in 2020. The Vanderbilt product entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Houston Texans and spent his first four and a half seasons with the club. He was coached by Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen as a rookie in 2017, and was also coached by Titans inside linebackers coach Bobby King from 2017-20.

• In 2021, Cunningham saw action in 14 combined games with the Texans and Titans and registered 92 tackles, seven stops for loss, three passes defensed and a forced fumble.
• In 2020, Cunningham led the NFL with 163 total tackles. He tied Ray Lewis (2003) and Darius Leonard (2018) for the 10th-most tackles in a single season since 2000.
• In 2019, Cunningham led the AFC with 137 total tackles, including seven tackles for loss, two sacks, three quarterback hits, two passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.
• In 2017, Cunningham finished tied for second among all NFL rookies with 87 total tackles.

• Cunningham became Vanderbilt's first unanimous All-American with a stellar junior campaign in 2016.

• The Pinson, Ala., native was selected by the Houston Texans in the second round (57th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
• Waived by the Texans on Dec. 8, 2021.
• Claimed by the Titans off waivers from the Texans on Dec. 9, 2021.

• Played three seasons (2014-16) at Vanderbilt after redshirting the 2013 campaign. Finished his Commodores career ranked third in program history with 39.5 tackles for loss and notched 295 career tackles.
• Earned coaches first-team All-SEC honors (2015-16) and was named an Associated Press First-Team All-SEC selection (2015-16).
• As a junior (2016), swept first-team All-America honors from every prestigious outlet, including Associated Press, Football Writers of America (FWAA), Walter Camp Foundation, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), ESPN, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, The Sporting News and USA Today. Became just the third player in Vanderbilt history to earn first-team All-America honors from the Walter Camp Foundation. Finished the regular season leading the SEC with 125 total tackles (9.6 per game), ranking sixth nationally in 2016.
• As a sophomore (2015), played in all 12 games and earned nine starts at inside linebacker and ranked among the league leaders in numerous statistical categories, including tackles for loss, solo tackles, total tackles, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.
• As a redshirt freshman (2014), compiled 67 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, 6.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
• As a true freshman (2013), redshirted participating as a scout team linebacker.
• Majored in economics at Vanderbilt.

• Attended Pinson (Ala.) Valley High School where he was a senior captain and three-year starter at linebacker for the Indians. Amassed 448 total tackles during his three-year varsity career.
• Concluded his prep career by receiving Alabama 5A Lineman of the Year and Birmingham News' Lineman of the Year honors after 2012 campaign.
• As a senior (2012), earned first-team all-state honors after leading PVHS to an 8-4 record and the second round of the 5A playoffs. Contributed 194 total tackles, including 41 tackles for loss and 12 sacks along with four blocked punts during the season.
• Participated in postseason Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.
• As junior (2011), earned all-state recognition after registering 152 tackles.
