Caleb Murphy

PRO: The Titans signed Caleb Murphy as a rookie free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3-inch, 254-pounder made the 53-man roster out of training camp and possesses a strong pass-rushing ability, setting the NCAA single-season record with 25.5 sacks his senior season. During his rookie season he appeared in three games as a reserve. The Dowagiac, Mich., native played three seasons (2020-22) at Ferris State and tallied 156 tackles, 40 sacks, 60.5 tackles for loss and eight forced fumbles.

• Murphy set an NCAA single-season record with 25.5 sacks his senior year. He also tied the NCAA record with 39 tackles for loss.

• Murphy became the first DII player ever to win the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation's top defensive end.

• The Dowagiac, Mich., native was signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023.

COLLEGE:
• Murphy played in 29 games over three seasons at Ferris State and tallied 156 tackles, 40 sacks, 60.5 tackles for loss and eight forced fumbles. Following the 2019 season, he transferred to Ferris State from Grand Valley State where he played in eight games, recording 13 tackles and one sack.
• As a senior (2022), started in 15 games at Ferris State and recorded 93 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 39 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. His 25.5 sacks set an NCAA single-season record. He also tied the NCAA record with 39 tackles for loss while helping Ferris State to repeat as DII national champions. He became the first DII player ever to win the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation's top defensive end. Murphy was named GLIAC Player of the Year, won the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the best DII lineman and received the Cliff Harris award as the nation's small college defensive player of the year.
• As a junior (2021), appeared in 14 games and recorded 63 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and one interception while helping lead his team to the DII championship. He was named the GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year.
• As a sophomore (2020), his season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Transferred to Ferris State from Grand Valley State following the 2019 season.
• As a redshirt freshman (2019), appeared in eight games recording 13 tackles and one sack for Grand Valley State.
• Redshirted in 2018.
• Graduated with a degree in criminal justice from Ferris State in December of 2022.

PERSONAL:
• Attended Dowagiac Union (Mich.) High School under coach Mike Stanger. Recorded 97 tackles with 27 tackles for loss and 13 quarterback sacks with six fumble recoveries as a senior.
• As a junior, posted 86 tackles with 17 stops for loss, 15 sacks and four fumble recoveries.
• Scored a touchdown six different ways during his final season (receiving, rushing, passing, interception, fumble recovery, punt return).
• Garnered all-region, all-league and all-state recognition each of his final two seasons. Was a three-year letter winner.
• Active in football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and track and field.
• His brother, Cailyn, was a fellow Ferris State football player.
