A.J. Moore

PRO: The Titans signed A.J. Moore Jr. as an unrestricted free agent during the 2022 offseason to add depth and experience in the secondary and on special teams units. The 5-foot-11-inch, 200-pound safety amassed 35 tackles, a sack, two stops for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, while adding 34 special teams tackles in his first four NFL seasons (2018-21) with the Houston Texans.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 
• From 2018-21, Moore Jr.'s 34 total special teams tackles led the Texans special teams unit.
• In 2020, Moore Jr. started a career-best five games at safety and posted season-highs with 31 tackles, a sack, two quarterback hits, a pass defensed and a forced fumble.

TITANS TIDBITS:
• A.J.'s twin brother, C.J., plays safety for the Detroit Lions. They both played in the same defensive backfield at Ole Miss.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: 
• The Bassfield, Miss., native was originally signed by the New England Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 11, 2018.
• Waived by the Patriots on Sept. 1, 2018.
• Claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on Sept. 2, 2018.
• Signed by the Titans as an unrestricted free agent on March 21, 2022.

COLLEGE:
• Played four seasons (2014-17) at Mississippi and appeared in 37 career games over four seasons for the Rebels, recording 132 total tackles, two sacks, five passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
• As a senior (2017), started every game at the nickel position and recorded a career-high 48 total tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and three passes defensed.
• As a junior (2016), recorded 42 total tackles and ranked fourth on the team with five tackles for loss, while appearing in all 12 games as a reserve and on special teams.
• As a sophomore (2015), notched 26 total tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in eight games.
• As a true freshman (2014), tallied 16 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one pass defensed in seven games.
• Majored in general studies at Ole Miss.

PERSONAL: 
• Attended Bassfield (Miss.) High School.
• As a senior (2013), earned first-team all-state honors as a linebacker by The Clarion-Ledger after recording 132 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, in addition to five rushing touchdowns.
• Named the Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year and Region 7-2A Defensive Player of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Coaches and led Bassfield to a 15-1 record and a second-consecutive Class 2A state championship in 2013.
• As a junior (2012), earned second-team Class 2A all-state honors by the Mississippi Association of Coaches after leading Bassfield to a 16-0 record and a 2A state championship.
• Participated in track and field and placed runner-up to former Ole Miss teammate Kailo Moore in the 100 and 200 meters at the 2013 Class 2A state track and field meet as a senior.
