NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Wednesday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center to continue preparations for Sunday's season opener vs the New York Jets.
Here's a look at today's developments:
-The Titans drafted Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.
If all goes well, Tate will do his part to help take the team's offense to another level in the years to come.
After months of preparation, the rookie receiver is ready to go.
"I'm very excited," Tate said on Wednesday. "It's the first game for me in the league, the first official game.
"It just means more now, every snap, especially with the season on the line. I think everything has played a part getting me to this moment, built confidence, built a connection with the team, as we build our momentum going in."
At Ohio State, Tate recorded 875 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2025, while becoming a second-team All-American honor.
A week ago, coach Robert Saleh said Tate was dealing with some stiffness when explaining why he wasn't on the field at the start of last Tuesday's practice.
But Tate was on the practice field on Wednesday, and he doesn't appear on the team's Injury Report.
"I feel great," Tate said. "I'm ready to go out there and make some plays."
-Saleh provided an update on Titans linebacker Cedric Gray, who was injured in a UTV accident over the weekend.
"He's in the concussion protocol, has a chance to clear, so we're going to let him go through that process," Saleh said. "We'll know more towards the end of the week on his availability."
Gray did not practice on Wednesday.
Saleh was asked about Gray's explanation after the incident.
"You always try your best to keep the main thing the main thing and try to help educate them, but they're still kids," Saleh said. "He's obviously apologetic, obviously frustrated with himself. But thankfully, I'm taking a half glass full. He's good, he's healthy, he's got a chance. So it could have been a lot worse."
-Defensive end Keldric Faulk appeared on the team's first Injury Report on Wednesday – he was listed with a shoulder injury, but as a full participant.
-The Jets released their first Injury Report of the week.
It looked like this: Edge Joseph Ossai (foot) and receiver Tim Patrick (groin) did not practice; cornerback D'Angelo Ponds (calf) was limited; and running back Breece Hall (groin), running back Isaiah Davis (knee) and tight end Kenyon Sadiq (groin) were full participants.
-Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons announced earlier today he is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to launch "Sacks for Forever Homes," an initiative aimed at eliminating housing instability for single parents in Nashville and helping them move closer to homeownership.
With each sack during the 2026 season, Simmons will pledge $1,980 through his Give Em A Reason Foundation. The funds will directly support single parents seeking stable housing.
