Quick Hits on the Titans From Wednesday of Texans Week

quick-hits-10-07-26

NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Wednesday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center to continue preparations for Sunday's game vs the Houston Texans.

Here's a look at today's developments:

-Titans quarterback Cam Ward grew up in West Columbia, Texas, about 50 miles from Houston.

So, playing against the Texans will always have extra significance for Ward.

Ward on Wednesday admitted he didn't root for the Texans, or Cowboys, growing up in Texas. But he knows the rivalry that exists between the Titans and Texans, because of the history of the franchises.

"My team was the Saints growing up," Ward said. "I really liked Drew Brees. But I am a Titans fans now."

Ward completed 20-of-31 passes for 222 yards with a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's loss at the Ravens.

In four games this season, Ward is 75-of-119 for 726 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

On Sunday, the Titans will be looking to get their first win this season against the Texans.

"Every division game is a rivalry," Ward said. "That's one thing that we want to do, own the (AFC) South. We have a great opportunity against them. But they are going to be excited. They look at us the same exact way we look at them – we are both 0 and 4 teams, both looking for a win this year."

-Titans safety Amani Hooker began the practice week in concussion protocol.

"After I talked to you guys on Monday," Titans coach Robert Saleh said, "(Amani) reported symptoms. So, he cleared symptoms with regards to concussion, Monday had symptoms show back up. So, he's in the concussion protocol, he won't practice."

The Titans plan to monitor Hooker throughout the week.

-The Titans on Wednesday moved cornerback Joshua Williams to the team's Designated to Return to Practice list.

This designation opened up a three-week window for Williams to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.

I talked with Williams, who returned to practice today (in full), before practice.
