NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center to continue preparations for Sunday's game at the Cincinnati Bengals.
Here's a look at today's developments:
-Receiver Carnell Tate (shoulder) did not practice for the third day in a row.
"I think it's a little complicated there, especially for a young guy, but we'll see how he feels," Titans coach Robert Saleh said of the chances of Tate playing without practicing all week. "We're going to work him out some a little bit today and try to push the envelope on his injury and see where he's at afterwards."
Tate leads the Titans with 34 catches for 413 yards and a touchdown.
-The past few days have been a whirlwind for defensive tackle Jonah Laulu.
Laulu was cut by the Raiders on Tuesday, and he was claimed by the Titans on Wednesday.
Laulu boarded a plane from Las Vegas to Nashville, and he arrived just in time to see Jeffery Simmons traded away on Thursday. He practiced yesterday, and he was still getting himself acclimated today.
"Yesterday was a crazy day," Laulu said. "It's been an interesting 24 hours."
The 6-foot-5, 289-pound Laulu played in 39 games, with 22 starts, over the past three seasons with the Raiders, and tallied 91 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 12 quarterback hits on those contests.
Laulu started 15 games for the Raiders in 2025. He played in five games this season, and was a healthy scratch for two other contests. Laulu had five tackles and a half sack this season in Las Vegas.
Laulu said he's familiar with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, and he's getting to know a lot of his new teammates.
He's looking forward to showing what he can do in Tennessee.
"I didn't take anything personal," Laulu said of his departure from the Raiders. "As far as being surprised, I guess you could say it kind of caught me off guard, but not really. I understood why they did what they did.
"But a fresh start is never bad. They have a great defense and scheme. I am familiar with Gus Bradley. So, fresh start, new opportunity for me."
Asked to describe himself, Laulu said he plays hard, and has a good motor "and I think I just need to believe in myself and what I can do, in my ability to play fast, get on the edges, play the run. The sky is the limit for me."
-Saleh said veteran punter Thomas Morstead, signed to the practice squad earlier in the week, had a good week of practice.
Morstead could be promoted for Sunday's game, after the injury to Tommy Townsend last week.
"He's been around, man," Saleh said. "He's funny. I was with him at the Jets, but he's a good man, works his butt off. Joey Slye, I was messing with Joey yesterday, just talking about how I think he's got some competition in the weight room now with the way Thomas (Morstead) works out."
-The Titans promoted defensive tackle Timmy Horne to the team's active roster on Friday.
Horne was released earlier in the week, and signed to the team's practice squad.
Horne has played in two games this season and he's been credited with five tackles.
-The Titans signed linebacker Dominique Hampton to the team's practice squad.
-The Titans moved linebacker Dorian Mausi to the team's Designated to Return to Practice list earlier this month.
This designation opened up a three-week window for Mausi to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.
Mausi practiced again on Friday. The Titans need to officially activate Mausi in order for him to be able to play on Sunday.
-As part of his weekly routine to honor a Tennessee high school, Saleh was representing coach Caleb Olive of Seymour High School in East Tennessee.
"Had a big win on senior night to get to 8-1," Saleh said. "They've won five in a row, best start since 2003. He's got those guys rolling, man. But congratulations, Coach Olive, and best of luck to you guys tonight against Grainger."
-And now for all the injury updates on Friday:
-Running back Tyjae Spears (knee) did not practice for the third day in a row.
-Punter Tommy Townsend (left knee) did not practice for the third day in a row.
-Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers (groin) practiced again.
-Running back Tony Pollard, who got an off day on Thursday, returned to practice.
-Receiver Calvin Ridley (hip) was limited in practice for the third day in a row.
-The Titans are scheduled to hold a walkthrough on Saturday before traveling to Cincinnati on Saturday, ahead of Sunday's game vs the Bengals.
