NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Thursday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center to continue preparations for Sunday's game at the Indianapolis Colts.
Here's a look at today's developments:
-Titans linebacker Cedric Gray is keeping the faith – in himself, and the Titans.
"I feel like one of the things I have been leaning on lately is my faith," Gray said on Thursday. "It is something I have been leaning on mentally, coming into the building and putting in 100 percent effort and showing up and competing and doing my role the best that I can.
"The team is losing, and I obviously want to win more games, and I want to get more playing time. But none of that really matters at the end of the day, we have to get the job done."
Gray, who led the team in tackles a year ago, has been utilized less in the defense this season. Rookie linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. has regularly played 100 percent of the snaps on defense. In this past Sunday's game against the Texans, Titans linebacker Cody Barton played 64 of the 66 defensive snaps, and Gray played 28 snaps.
"I just have to continue to be better in practice, and become a better leader and things like that," Gray said. "Opportunity will present itself again sometime, so just staying ready."
Gray knows the challenge on Sunday includes being more consistent as a defense, and finding a way to slow down Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.
"He's a very elusive guy, a very fast guy," Gray said of Taylor, who has 510 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns in the last three meetings vs the Titans. "I think the key is stopping him, and slowing him down, and keeping him from getting to the second level. Just taking care of the run game on the early downs."
-Last week, the Titans moved cornerback Joshua Williams to the team's Designated to Return to Practice list.
This designation opened up a three-week window for Williams to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.
Williams was not activated for this past Sunday's game the Texans, and the team will reevaluate the possibility of his playing this week.
Williams was a full participant in Thursday's practice with a quad injury.
