210908-quick-hits

NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Wednesday at Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's season opener against the Arizona Cardinals at Nissan Stadium.

Some quick hits after Wednesday's practice:

-Titans coach Mike Vrabel gathered the team around in a huddle prior to practice, and then revealed the names of the five captains selected by the team in a vote earlier in the day. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, running back Derrick Henry, safety Kevin Byard, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and punter Brett Kern were all voted captains. Players clapped after Vrabel named each player, one by one.

-Receiver A.J. Brown did not practice. He spent the open session of practice on a stationary bike, and was listed on the Injury Report with a "knee."

-Receiver Julio Jones practiced for the second day this week.

-Linebacker David Long Jr. returned to practice on Wednesday after missing on Monday, but he was listed as limited with a hamstring injury.

-Cornerback Chris Jackson was also limited in Wednesday's session with a hamstring injury.

-Center Ben Jones and guard Nate Davis, both activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list earlier in the day, were both at practice.

-Offensive lineman Corey Levin, signed to the practice squad on Tuesday after being waived on Monday, kept his same number, 61.

-Quarterback Ryan Tannehill talked to reporters before practice. Tannehill, activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list earlier I the week, practiced again on Wednesday. Tannehill said he feels good after his bout with COVID. "I didn't have it too bad," Tannehill said. "I had some minor symptoms for a couple of days and was able to bounce back. So, thankfully it didn't hit too hard. It kind of went through my house – my wife got it after I did. She had it a little worse than I did, but overall, it was a couple of days and we were able to bounce back."

-The season opener now just four days away, the Titans worked on an open field tackling drill on Wednesday.

-The Cardinals released their first injury report on Wednesday, and it looked like this: TE Darrell Daniels (toe) was limited, and LB Dennis Gardeck (knee) was a full participation.

-Five other Titans players talked to reporters before practice – tight end Geoff Swaim, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, safety Amani Hooker, cornerback Kristian Fulton and kicker Sam Ficken.

-The Titans return to the practice field on Thursday to continue preparations for Sunday's game.
