Sunday marks the 81st meeting in a rivalry that began in 1968, with the Titans franchise holding a 41-38-1 lead over the Bengals. The only other opponent with as many games played against the Titans/Oilers is the Pittsburgh Steelers (81). The last Titans-Bengals clash at Paycor Stadium occurred in Week 8 of 2020, with the Bengals winning 31-20.

LAST WEEK AGAINST CLEVELAND

The Titans hosted the Cleveland Browns at Nissan Stadium in Week 7.  After the Titans jumped out to an early 14-0 advantage, the Browns came back to grab a 24-17 lead late in the fourth quarter. Running back Tony Pollard's third rushing touchdown of the game helped knot the score at 24-24 with less than a minute remaining in regulation, but a 32-yard field goal as time expired provided the Browns a 27-24 win.

Pollard totaled 25 carries for 129 yards and three scores, including a 36-yard touchdown to cap the opening drive. He matched his career high in touchdowns, while producing his fourth-best career rushing total and his third-highest career scrimmage yards total (155).

The Titans' defensive effort was highlighted by a pair of takeaways, giving the team five forced turnovers over a two-week span. Cornerback Cor'Dale Flott notched an interception in his second consecutive game — the first such occurrence of his career — and rookie linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and safety Tony Adams combined on a takeaway with a forced fumble and fumble recovery, respectively.

Following this week's contest, the Titans have a bye in Week 9. They return to the field with a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 15.

THE BENGALS

Within an AFC North division in which each team sits above .500, the Bengals are a half game behind the Browns (5-2) and Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) and a half game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens (4-3). They won 35-13 last week at Baltimore.

Quarterback Joe Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is in his seventh NFL campaign. In 2025, he became the third-fastest player in league history to reach 150 touchdown passes as well as the fifth-fastest to 20,000 passing yards. His 2026 passing statistics include 1,653 yards, 15 touchdowns and three interceptions with a 110.4 passer rating.

Head coach Zac Taylor is in his eighth campaign in Cincinnati. He directed the Bengals to the Super Bowl following the 2021 season and to the AFC title game at the conclusion of the 2022 campaign. Under Taylor this season, the Bengals own the NFL's fourth-ranked scoring offense at 27.2 points per game.
