NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans (0-0) begin the 2026 preseason this week with a trip to face the San Francisco 49ers (0-0). Kickoff at Levi's Stadium (capacity 68,500) is slated for 6 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. CDT on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Two days prior to the game, the Titans and 49ers will engage in a joint practice at SAP Performance Facility (Santa Clara, Calif.). The session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, Aug. 11. It marks the first of three consecutive weeks in which the Titans will practice against a preseason opponent—a franchise first. The Titans have combined practices in Nashville scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears in Weeks 2 and 3 of the preseason, respectively.
BROADCAST INFORMATION
This week's contest will be televised regionally on the Titans Preseason TV Network, including flagship WKRN-News 2 in Nashville. Play-by-play announcer Paul Burmeister and analyst Charles Davis will call the action, and Cory Curtis will report from the sidelines. It is the fourth consecutive year in which the trio has teamed up for Titans preseason broadcasts.
During the preseason, fans in the Nashville market are able to livestream the broadcast on their mobile devices from the Titans Mobile App (iOS and Android), as well as on desktop computers and mobile web at TennesseeTitans.com. Restrictions apply.

SALEH RETURNS TO BAY AREA IN TITANS PRESEASON DEBUT
Robert Saleh, who in January was named the 22nd head coach in Titans/Oilers history, is set to make his Titans preseason debut in a familiar setting. He arrived in Tennessee with 21 seasons of NFL coaching experience, most recently as the 49ers defensive coordinator. In 2025, he returned to the post after serving in the same capacity from 2017 to 2020. Between defensive coordinator stints with the 49ers, he was the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021 to 2024.
Titans quarterback Cam Ward returns in 2026 for his second season. The former No. 1 overall draft pick started all 17 games in 2025, and his 3,169 passing yards eclipsed Marcus Mariota's previous franchise rookie record (2,818 in 2015). Over the final nine games of his rookie year, Ward threw only one interception with 10 touchdown passes and also rushed for two scores.
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi made wide receiver Carnell Tate the fourth-overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State star was the first of eight Titans picks, all of whom could see their first preseason action this week. Following the selection of Tate, Borgonzi engineered a trade to get back into the first round to take former Auburn defensive end Keldric Faulk in the 31st overall slot.
THE 49ERS
The 49ers are led by head coach Kyle Shanahan, who has directed the team to a 91-72 overall record, including postseason, since taking the job in 2017.
In 2025, Shanahan led the 49ers to the playoffs for the fifth time after the team finished 12-5 in the regular season and earned a wild card berth for the postseason. The 49ers ranked seventh in the NFL in total offense in 2025, averaging 351.4 yards per game. Quarterbacks Brock Purdy (2,167) and Mac Jones (2,151) combined to pass for 4,318 yards.
Purdy, who was limited to nine games during the 2025 regular season due to injury, is entering his fifth season since being selected with the 262nd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He has since passed for 11,685 yards and 84 touchdowns with a career passer rating of 104.0.
