Titans-Jets Week 2 Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES

  • Nissan Stadium began its 26th season as the Titans' home venue.
  • The Titans outgained their opponent for the second consecutive week. They totaled 300 yards against the Jets and allowed 265 yards.
  • The Titans offense totaled 130 rushing yards against the Jets after rushing for 140 yards in the opener at Chicago.
  • The Titans defense allowed 148 total yards in the season opener at Chicago and gave up 265 yards in Week 2 against the Jets. Their total of 413 yards allowed (206.5 per game) is tied for the sixth-best figure in franchise history through two games and their best since the 2010 Titans defense allowed 413 yards through two weeks.
  • The Titans defense allowed 164 net passing yards against the Jets after limiting the Bears to 64 net passing yards in the opener. The total of 228 net passing yards allowed (114.0 per game) is the best showing by the Titans defense through two games since 2010, when the unit allowed 171 net passing yards (85.5 per game) through the first two weeks.

S JAMAL ADAMS

  • Made his Titans debut and was credited with one tackle.

WR TYLER BOYD

  • Totaled 26 yards on a pair of receptions.

S QUANDRE DIGGS

  • Tied for third on the defense with five tackles.
  • Logged his 69th consecutive start. Entering the week, he was tied (Patrick Queen, Daron Payne) for the third-longest active streak among NFL defensive players behind only Kevin Byard (122) and Maxx Crosby (77).

K NICK FOLK

  • Made a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the first half and also connected on both of his extra point attempts.
  • Increased his all-time NFL-record streak to 79 consecutive field goals made on attempts from less than 40 yards.
  • With his 384th career field goal, he surpassed Nick Lowery (383) for 18th place in NFL history.

WR DeANDRE HOPKINS

  • With a nine-yard reception, he extended his active streak to 164 consecutive games with a reception—every game he has played since he entered the NFL. He owns the third-longest such streak to begin a career in NFL history behind only Marvin Harrison (190 consecutive games) and Keyshawn Johnson (167).

WR JHA'QUAN JACKSON

  • Averaged 7.4 yards on five punt returns and added a 30-yard kickoff return.
  • His nine total punt returns in his first two games tied for the third-most in franchise history through the first two games of a season and are the most since Darius Reynaud had nine punt returns through the initial two contests of 2013.

LB ERNEST JONES IV

  • Recorded his first start in a Titans uniform and led the defense with nine tackles.
  • Tied for the team lead with two tackles for loss.
  • Late in the second quarter, he teamed with Jeffery Simmons to end a Jets drive with a two-yard tackle for loss against Breece Hall on third-and-one.

OLB HAROLD LANDRY III

  • Posted three tackles, including a pair of sacks, and added two passes defensed.
  • Became the first Titans player with two sacks and two passes defensed in a game since defensive end Carlos Hall did so against Philadelphia on Sept. 8, 2002.
  • Recorded a five-yard sack of Aaron Rodgers in the second quarter, and in the third quarter, he dropped Rodgers for a seven-yard loss on third-and-10.
  • Logged his second and third sacks of the season, bringing his career total to 44.5 sacks. In doing so, he tied Derrick Morgan (44.5) for 10th place on the franchise's all-time sack list. He also tied Morgan for the third-highest sack total for the team in its "Titans era" (1999–present), trailing only Jevon Kearse (52) and Jurrell Casey (51).
  • Registered his sixth career game with two or more sacks.
  • For the first time in his career, he recorded at least one sack in each of the team's first two games of the season.
  • Became the first Titans player to total three or more sacks through the first two games of a season since Derrick Morgan accomplished the feat (three sacks) in 2015.
  • Recorded 8.5 sacks in his last eight games.

QB WILL LEVIS

  • Registered his 11th career start and completed 19 of 28 passes for 192 yards with one touchdown and one interception (84.2 passer rating).
  • Added a career-high 38 rushing yards on four attempts, marking the second consecutive week he posted a career high in rushing (36 yards at Chicago).
  • Completed 11 of 13 passes in the first half. His 84.6 first-half completion percentage was the second-highest mark of his career (88.9 against Houston, Dec. 17, 2023).
  • Converted a third-and-three with a 22-yard pass to Tony Pollard in the second quarter.
  • Converted a third-and-one with a career-long 21-yard rushing attempt in the third quarter.
  • Completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley in the third quarter. It was his second touchdown pass of the season and his 10th career touchdown pass.

CB ROGER McCREARY

  • Totaled three tackles, including a tackle for loss.
  • Dropped running back Breece Hall for a six-yard tackle for loss in the fourth quarter.

LB KENNETH MURRAY JR.

  • Ranked second on the defense with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss.

TE CHIG OKONKWO

  • Totaled 16 yards on three receptions.
  • Reached the 1,000-yard receiving mark for his career (1,009), becoming the franchise's 15th tight end to reach the plateau.

RB TONY POLLARD

  • Led the team with 102 scrimmage yards on 22 total touches.
  • Rushed for a team-high 62 yards on 17 attempts and added 40 receiving yards on a team-high five catches.
  • Converted a third-and-three with a 22-yard reception in the second quarter.

WR CALVIN RIDLEY

  • Led the team with 77 receiving yards on four catches, including a touchdown, and added a rushing touchdown.
  • On a drive in the first quarter, he converted a third-and-five with a 15-yard catch and capped the series with his first career rushing touchdown on a 10-yard run. It was the team's first rushing touchdown by a wide receiver since J. Brown's 49-yarder against New Orleans on Dec. 22, 2019.
  • Caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Will Levis in the third quarter. It was his first touchdown reception of the season and his 37th career touchdown catch.
  • Became the first Titans wide receiver with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game since Nate Washington accomplished the feat against Indianapolis on Oct. 30, 2011.
  • Improved his active streak to 10 consecutive games with at least three receptions.

DT JEFFERY SIMMONS

  • Tied for third on the defense with five tackles.
  • Late in the second quarter, he teamed with Ernest Jones IV to end a Jets drive with a two-yard tackle for loss against Breece Hall on third-and-one.

RB TYJAE SPEARS

  • Rushed for 20 yards on six carries and added 11 yards on a pair of receptions.
  • Returned one kickoff for 22 yards.

P RYAN STONEHOUSE

  • Averaged 56.5 yards on four punts (38.2 net) with one punt placed inside the 20 and one punt blocked.
  • His 56.5-yard gross average was the fifth-best of his career in a game with four or more punts.
  • Booted a 63-yard punt in the third quarter.
  • Hit a 59-yarder in the fourth quarter to pin the Jets inside the 20.
  • Recorded his ninth consecutive game with at least one punt of 55-plus yards to extend the NFL's longest such active streak.

TE JOSH WHYLE

  • Tied his career high with two receptions for 13 yards.
