NASHVILLE – Cam Ward learned a lot during his rookie season.
Heading into Year 2, the Titans quarterback feels like he's more prepared, and ready.
Can he carry his positive momentum from a year ago into 2026?
The Titans kick off the regular season on Sunday at Nissan Stadium against the New York Jets.
"I think I am more intelligent in terms of the NFL game," Ward said on Wednesday. "I think playing on time is a big factor in us being successful on offense. And I think the more I can do that, it's going to put myself and the offense in a better situation."
As a rookie in 2025, Ward threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, with a passer rating of 80.3. Ward became just the second rookie in NFL history to have seven or fewer interceptions on 500-plus attempts (Caleb Williams, 2024).
Ward, who started all 17 games for the Titans in 2025, showed great improvement during the course of his rookie season.
In his final eight starts of 2025, Ward threw 10 touchdown passes and just one interception. He had the NFL's second-best TD-INT ratio from Weeks 11-18 (min. 150 pass attempts).
Following an offseason when the team made plenty of changes, from hiring Robert Saleh as head coach to hiring Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator to adding a bunch of new weapons around him, including first-round pick Carnell Tate, Ward said he's ready to go.
"I am real excited," Ward said. "Excited for everything to continue to pay off each and every day for us. Excited for the opportunity we get to have – it's basically a whole new team. To be able to get a good environment out there at Nissan (Stadium), have a lot of fans out there, (and we want to) try and get a win for them.
"It's very important (to win). It's the only chance you get to go 1 and 0, so we have to do what we can to limit the bad plays and maximize all the good plays."
