It's Colts Week: Quick Hits on the Titans After Friday's Practice

12-20-24-quick-hits

NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's game at the Indianapolis Colts.

Here's a look at today's developments:

-Titans running back Tyjae Spears had his best game of the season this past Sunday.

Spears recorded two touchdowns, with a season-high six catches for 87 receiving yards against the Bengals. It was his second career game with two touchdowns.

Spears is hoping to have continued success against the Colts, a team he has 65-plus scrimmage yards against in two of three games.

"I just have to keep on working," Spears said. "There's been a lot of adversity I've had to overcome (this year), and I'm still overcoming it. I just have to take it one day at a time … and I'm glad everything happened the way it has happened."

I chatted with Spears in the locker room on Friday:

-Linebacker Luke Gifford is the only player officially ruled OUT this week. Coach Brian Callahan said Gifford hasn't cleared concussion protocol.

-Callahan said kicker Nick Folk will be a gameday decision. The team signed kicker Brayden Narveson to the practice squad last week, and he's expected to be elevated for Sunday's game as an insurance policy.

I chatted with Narveson in the locker room on Friday:

-Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. (hamstring) will also be a gameday decision for the Titans.

-Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, placed on Injured Reserve on November 23 with a quad injury, is not expected to play again this season.

"Sneed's likely to not come back," Callahan said. "His injury was very strange and very significant."

-Former Colts cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. and veteran tight end Nick Vannett will be the extra captains for Sunday's game.

-The Titans moved receiver Colton Dowell to the team's 'Designated for Return' list earlier this week.

Dowell practiced with the team this week for the first time this season since suffering a torn ACL at the end of the 2023 season.

Dowell was back at practice on Friday.

The designation opened up a three-week window for Dowell to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from the team's Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Callahan didn't rule out the possibility of Dowell playing in the finale against the Texans, but it didn't sound like it's very likely. He has officially been ruled out for this Sunday.

-The Titans placed tackle Jaelyn Duncan on the team's 'Designated for Return' earlier this month, when he practiced for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the team's October 20 game against the Bills.

Duncan practiced in full again on Friday. Callahan indicated the tentative play is for Duncan to rejoin the 53-man roster next week. He's officially listed as questionable for this Sunday's game.

"I'd like to see him play," Callahan said of Duncan. "I think there's an opportunity there to see him play some, just to see where he's at and how far he's come, that would be good to see."

Now, for all the injury updates from Friday:

-Receiver Tyler Boyd (foot) practiced on Friday and he's good to go.

-Kicker Nick Folk (abdomen) was limited at practice on Friday and he's listed as QUESTIONABLE.
