WR Brandon Jones had one of his best days as a pro, catching a career-high eight passes for 82 yards.
Kerry Collins threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns, and the Titans beat the Chicago Bears 21-14 Sunday to remain undefeated despite rushing for just 20 yards.
That was just one more than their franchise-low, a stunning performance for a team that was third in the league entering the game. Even so, the Titans set a franchise record with their 12th straight regular-season win thanks to Collins and a defense that shut down Rex Grossman and the Bears.
Collins was 30-of-41 and did not throw an interception. Brandon Jones caught eight passes for 82 yards, and Bo Scaife had 10 for 78 with a touchdown.
That was enough to make up for a miserable performance by the running backs.
White managed 14 yards on 10 attempts, although he had a touchdown in the fourth quarter. And Johnson carried 14 times for 8 yards.
Even so, Tennessee pulled this one out and remained the NFL's lone unbeaten team.
With Kyle Orton nursing a sprained ankle, Grossman delivered an uneven performance in his first start since Dec. 6. He was 20-for-37 got 173 yards and led the Bears on a 75-yard touchdown drive on their first possession. He also got picked off on the next one.
The offense stalled from there.
Rookie Matt Forte struggled at times, running for 72 yards after setting a season-high with 126 against Detroit, and the offense managed just 243 yards in all.
Coming off a 19-16 overtime win over Green Bay, the Titans struggled, but took a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter when Collins connected with former Bear Justin Gage for a 12-yard touchdown -- the first by a Titans wide receiver since the second game.
A 2-yard run by White early in the fourth period made it 21-7, but the Bears refused to go quietly.
Grossman fell into the end zone from the 1 to make it a seven-point game with 4:55 left after a 29-yard pass to Devin Hester. And they had a chance to tie it after a punt, taking over at the Tennessee 41. But the Titans held firm.
Orton had hoped to play after being taken from the field on a cart in the closing minute of the first half last week. Instead, Grossman orchestrated a 75-yard touchdown drive on the Bears' first possession. Forte kept it alive with an 8-yard run through the middle on fourth-and-1 at the 15, and Grossman hit him with a 5-yard scoring pass after two pump fakes.
The good vibe disappeared on the next possession, when Grossman tried to force a pass to Marty Booker along the left sideline. Cortland Finnegan tipped it, Chris Hope picked it off and Tennessee took over at the Chicago 25.
But instead of a score, the Titans came up short. Bo Scaife got knocked out of bounds inches short of the goal line by Mike Brown on third down, and Ahmard Hall fumbled -- Tennessee's first turnover in 16 quarters -- on fourth down.
But Chris Carr returned a punt 29 yards to the Chicago 22, and this time the Titans took advantage. Scaife caught a 10-yard pass from Collins that tied it at 7.
While Titans star linebacker Keith Bulluck appeared in his 106th straight game after cracking cartilage in his ribs against Green Bay, two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch sat out with a groin strain.
The Titans also got a scare in the third quarter when fullback Hall got knocked woozy after being hit by Lance Briggs. He stayed face down for several minutes after being hit in the right shoulder, near the back of the neck, and rolled over before walking off the field.
