NASHVILLE – Titans quarterback Cam Ward hasn't lost his confidence.
But Ward also knows there's plenty of work to do on himself, and on offense.
"I think I am a very good quarterback," Ward said on Wednesday. "I think I do a lot of things different, that a lot of quarterbacks can't do. And there's also stuff I have to get better at, some things that I lack and that's a process you take on each and every day.
"I have great coaches around me to keep pushing me to the level I want to play at, and when the tide turns I am pretty sure it's going to be a different story."
Ward was 19-of-32 in Sunday's season opener vs the Jets, with a passer rating of 80.2. Ward also tucked the ball four times and ran with it, totaling 21 yards.
But the Titans struggled moving the ball when it mattered, as the offense got its only touchdown scoring drive in the closing minutes of the game in a 23-10 loss to the Jets.
Ward acknowledged on Sunday he missed some throws on a day when the team didn't play well across the floor. The Jets dominated the game, as the Titans managed just 11 first downs and 195 yards of offense.
"I am very critical of myself – I want to be a great player, whether it's for myself or the coaching staff," Ward said. "It's: 'What can I do to be the best for the team, and for us to be our best.
"So that's continue to take coaching for myself and get back to the drawing board and making plays happen.
"You are always going to have some type of adversity, whether it is middle of the season, late in the season or midseason," Ward said later. "The biggest separator is how you handle it."
The Titans return to action on Sunday against the Eagles, who won their opener over the Commanders.
"(I'm) real eager, because we didn't play our best ball collectively (vs the Jets)," Ward said. "I am excited to put the good film out there, not Only for myself by for the rest of the guys on offense."
