NASHVILLE, Tenn. —All running back Antonio Andrews has ever wanted was a chance, and he got one last season with the Titans.

Now, he's getting another – Andrews on Thursday signed a one-year deal with the team.

Andrews, initially signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014, led the Titans with 520 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 143 carries in 2015. He also threw a touchdown pass to quarterback Marcus Mariota late in the season in a game against the Jets.

Andrews played in 14 games, with 10 starts, last year. He also caught 21 passes for 174 yards during the season. Andrews played in just four games in 2014, but didn't have a carry.

Andrews is expected to compete for a roster spot, and playing time, this fall.

"This was my first real season, being able to play and not just watch,'' Andrews said at the end of last season. "I did everything I wanted to – I probably didn't put up the numbers I intended, but at the end of the day I took advantage of every opportunity I had to set myself up for the upcoming season."

The Titans have some uncertainty at the running back position, and will be looking for players to step up.

In addition to Andrews, running backs Dexter McCluster, Bishop Sankey, and David Cobb are also under contract for next season, in addition to fullback Jalston Fowler.

The Titans will also have a chance to explore options in free agency and the NFL Draft, which features Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott and Alabama's Derrick Henry, among others.

Andrews, who missed a block late in the season which led to Mariota getting sacked against the Patriots and lost a fumble a week later against the Texans, knows he needs to keep improving. Andrews said he was "ticked off" at himself at the end of last year.

"But I have to keep working,'' Andrews, who starred at Western Kentucky, said. "I've always been an underdog, and I'm always motivated to get better."
