NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's game vs the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here's a look at the developments from the day:
-Titans linebacker James Williams Sr. will start alongside Cody Barton on Sunday.
Titans interim coach Mike McCoy said he's looking forward to watching Williams play after ruling out Cedric Gray because of the concussion he suffered last week.
"It is a great opportunity to go prove what I can do," Williams said on Friday. "(I) can show what I can do for the team, for the organization and maybe even (for) next year."
Williams has been a key contributor for the Titans this season on special teams.
He's tallied four tackles on defense, and he's hungry for more against the Chiefs.
"Bones has been talking to me all year about controlled chaos," Williams said of special teams coach John Fassell. "He knows I like to play with chaos, and he just tells me to control it. If I play with controlled chaos, I make plays.
"Just controlling myself, stay on the edge but don't cross it."
-Earlier this week, the Titans placed receiver Bryce Oliver, edge Femi Oladejo, and edge Ali Gaye on the team's Designated to Return to Practice list.
This designation opened up a three-week window for all three players to practice with the team, and they will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.
All three players practiced on Friday, but McCoy ruled Oliver and Oladejo OUT for Sunday's game.
Gaye is listed as QUESTIONABLE for the contest.
-McCoy said quarterback Will Levis was in the building a few weeks back.
"He's great," McCoy said of Levis. "He was doing great. He was doing great in his rehab. Getting where he was in the throwing, you talked about he was getting excited because he's getting closer to go out and throw. Doing all that stuff, but he looked great. It's good to see him."
McCoy said Levis, who was placed on IR because of a shoulder injury that required surgery, was nearing throwing the football when he last saw him.
"He was getting ready to start throwing I think the next week," McCoy said of Levis. "I believe that's what it was."
-Defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat will be the team's gameday captain on Sunday.
Now, for the rest of the injury updates on Friday:
