NASHVILLE – Titans Coach Brian Callahan spoke to reporters on Thursday as the team wrapped up its second week of the offseason program.
Some of the hot topics from his availability:
-Callahan said attendance has been good during the offseason program, but he didn't reveal which players are in town, or not present, noting it's a voluntary program. "It's a good turnout, happy with it so far," Callahan said. "But as far as who is here and who is not, I am not going to answer those questions for a voluntary program."
-Callahan said the rookies are scheduled to arrive next Thursday for the rookie minicamp, which is scheduled for next weekend.
-Callahan said quarterback Will Levis spent the offseason focusing on things he can improve, and "I'm excited to see what that looks like for him, the work he's put in." Callahan said it remains to be seen how he decides to divide reps with Levis and quarterbacks Cam Ward, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. "They'll have plenty of opportunities," Callahan said. "How those reps get shaken out will sort of get determined by how they perform when given opportunities. That part has been thought out, we have a plan on place, and what that looks like will ultimately be up to them, and how their performance goes when it's time to perform."
-Callahan said he feels good about veteran receiver Tyler Lockett, "a productive player for a long time, and on top of that he's a fantastic person, understands his role on a football team, understands the value he brings as a leader." Callahan said he thinks Lockett "still has some production left in him" and "we're excited to have him."
-Callahan said Elic Ayomanor will probably start his work at X receiver, but has flexibility to do more. Fellow draft pick Chimere Dike is capable of playing all three receiver spots, Callahan said, "and we'll have to find what suits him the best." "But for those guys it's quite a bit of "we'll see" as they get going," Callahan said. "But I do like the flexibility they both have."
-Callahan was asked what receiver Treylon Burks needs to do to establish himself. Callahan said Burks needs to get healthy first, and that he's still working his way back from last season's knee injury. When he's cleared, he has to make plays. "He's always had the ability, and he's shown flashes of it," Callahan said. "But just looking for the consistency to show up when it is time to show up."
-Callahan said he believes the Titans are improved on the offensive line with the additions of veterans Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Zeitler, and with JC Latham moving to right tackle. "On paper, it looks like we're much improved," Callahan said. "But we have to go do it."
-Callahan said center Lloyd Cushenberry, who suffered an Achilles injury last season, is "doing great and rehab is going well." "He's in a good place, is in good shape," Callahan said. "So, he's on track."
