NASHVILLE – Titans coach Robert Saleh conducted a zoom conference call with reporters on Friday, one day after the team's preseason opening win against the 49ers.
The Titans are back in Nashville, and the team will practice this week at Vanderbilt Health Football Center before facing the Seattle Seahawks for a joint practice next Friday, and then preseason game No. 2 on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
Here's a look at some of the hot topics from today's call:
-Saleh said every pass play OC Brian Daboll called on Thursday night had been repped in practice by Titans quarterback Cam Ward, and the offense. Saleh said the way to improve "is as simple as time on task," when discussing Ward's 5-of-12, 57-yard night. "Every single one of those plays he has executed flawlessly in practice," Saleh said, "and he has to be able to have the confidence in himself and his teammates to execute" by using good, consistent technique. "It's just reps," Saleh said. "There is no doubt Cam is capable, we've just got to go execute."
-Saleh said the offensive line showed up well in the run game, and in the passing game. But he said the team still has several weeks to evaluate players. Specifically, Saleh said right guard Fernando Carmona played well, and so did tackle JC Latham. "JC had a great game," Saleh said.
-Saleh said rookie running back Nick Singleton, who had eight carries for 31 yards, was finishing his runs violently, gaining yards after contact. Saleh said it was a good start.
-Saleh said rookie Carnell Tate, who did not have a catch on three targets, overall was physical in the run game, and he played fast. Saleh said Tate was winning his 1 on 1s, "and as time goes, we'll find ways to get him the ball."
-Saleh said rookie linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., who played 38 snaps against the 49ers, showed up pretty well. Saleh said Hill has an immense amount of power, and he displayed it vs the 49ers.
-Saleh did not have any injury updates. He said tight end Jaren Kanak, who suffered a pec injury in Thursday's game, underwent an MRI and the team is awaiting the results. DE Jaylen Harrell also suffered a knee injury, but Saleh did not offer an update.
-Saleh said the plan is for the team's starters to play roughly 25-30 snaps against the Seahawks, potentially until halftime. Saleh said the plan is for the starters to play over 30 snaps in the preseason finale against the Bears. "We're going to build up," Saleh said. "It's all a numbers game at this point."
