With Plenty of Changes Around Him, Titans Safety Amani Hooker Aims to Keep Doing His Part

NASHVILLE – Amani Hooker has seen plenty of changes around him.

Heading into Year 8, the Titans safety wants to do his part, with no slippage.

"Keep my conditioning up, keep my speed up," Hooker said of his offseason plan. "And, be able to run with the guys I have been running with, even though this is my eighth season. No drop off, I want to continue with that trajectory."

Tennessee's plan this offseason included making a bunch of changes, from the coaching staff to the roster.

Veteran cornerbacks Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott joined the team back in March, and they'll bring experience and play-making ability to the team this fall. Joshua Willams signed with the team as well, with a pair of Super Bowl rings from his days with the Chiefs. Veteran safety Tony Adams also joined the mix.

And that's just some additions in the secondary.

Hooker said they arrived with the right mindset.

"I would just say the whole building (feels different), the new guys that we have from different teams that came over here – they love ball, and that is contagious," Hooker said. "When someone comes over that loves ball, it makes everyone else want to rise up to that challenge and play for the guys next to you and that's the feeling we have right now."

As for the coaching staff, from head coach Robert Saleh to defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, the feel on the practice field is different as well.

"Great energy," Hooker said. "They are excited for their opportunity to coach, we're excited to be able to play for them, to be able to put on this new uniform and have a bunch of different guys around us that love ball and that's all you can ask for."

In 2025, Hooker started a career-high 16 games for the Titans. He finished second on the team with a career-best 81 tackles, and he ranked second on the squad with eight passes defensed while adding a sack, four quarterback pressures and three stops for loss.

In seven NFL seasons, Hooker has tallied 12 interceptions and 396 tackles, along with 13 tackles for a loss and 39 passes defensed.

Second-year player Kevin Winston will playing alongside Hooker at safety, and he provides plenty of potential.

"We have a great relationship," Hooker said of Winston. "We talk every single day, he is like a little brother to me, he is always asking me questions. He is 6-3, he can run, he can jump, he is long. He can have a great NFL career."

Hooker said there's plenty to be excited about, but at this point he's not about to make any bold predictions.

The Titans have three days of OTAs under their belts, with the fourth scheduled for Monday. Two more OTAs are set for later this week.

There's plenty of work to be done the rest of May, in June, and in training camp as the defense gears up for 2026.

"It's hard to tell right now," Hooker said. "Right now, it's just practice, we're trying to learn the defense and trying to improve. It's exciting right now, we have a lot of talent."
