Joseph Howard from Goodlettsville, Tennessee
Question: Hey Mr Wyatt, been a Titans fan since we was the TN Oilers. Seen Air McNair, Eddie George, Blaine, The Freak, and Dr Dysons heartbreaking 1/2 yrd short. All the way to CJ2K magic season, Kerry Collins leading us to 10 straight Wins, just to see the Beep Beep Ravens hurt CJ and break my heart !! Seen us take VY #3 Jake Locker #8 and all the ups and downs in between. This installment of my beloved TN Titans seem to have a Buzz (At least here at home) I haven't felt in a while. What is your opinion on what the new regime is doing? And as a fan, what kind of expectations "In your opinion" should I have? What do you think of the direction we are going? Thank you so much for the time you've been the guy I look to first to understand what I'm seeing on the field.
Jim: Hey Joseph. Sounds like you've seen it all, been through the good and the bad. I think the new regime has a vision that will turn this thing around, I really do. Mike Borgonzi is committed, and he's a tireless worker. He knows what he is doing. Robert Saleh has proven to have a great football mind, and he has a really good temperament. I think he's a really good fit with Borgonzi. I think the team is on the right track, and a few years ago, I couldn't say the same thing with a straight face. After back-to-back 3-14 seasons, I'm not going to make any grand predictions. But I honestly think better days are on the horizon with the front office, coaching staff and a roster that has more talent. What does that mean for the win-loss record in 2026? We'll just have to wait and see. We'll find out the schedule on Thursday so you can go game by game then.
Travis Barnes from Hooper, Utah
Question: Hey Jim! I'm definitely liking the direction the team is going but I am curious with Daboll being the offensive coordinator do you think it will be encouraged for Cam Ward to start focusing on using his legs more? In the past it felt like our quarterbacks were discouraged from running with the ball unless it was a last resort, which looked to me like it made us a bit predictable. My other question is with the rebrand do they plan on releasing more merch options anytime soon? I would love an opportunity to get something more than just apparel! Thanks for all you do Jim!
Jim: Hey Travis. Not sure what Daboll's philosophy will be when it comes to Cam running. Cam took it upon himself to run more in the second half of the season, and it added something – until he injured his shoulder running the ball (diving) in the finale. Cam needs to pick his spots. Yeah, it's great to see him tuck it and get 6-7 yards on a 3rd and 4. But he has to be smart about it, and I'm sure Daboll will preach this. … I imagine more gear will be made available in time.
Jefferson Pendergrass from Rainsville, Alabama
Question: Hi Jim. My question is do You think that Tajae Spears should be cut this year? According to what I have heard, the Titans would save the full amount of his $3.67 million dollar contract against the cap hit if they cut him. In my opinion, I think that He should be cut in order to save that money and go after needs in free agency. Now that the Titans have Nick Singleton and RB1 Tony Pollard, we don't need him. I view him as a major disappointment. He is often injured, has put-up very underwhelming numbers. He is explosive when he is on the field, but he is not a power runner at all. The problem with him as a Rb is simple - He is too small to play that position. According to the Titans website, he is under 200 pounds.
What say you, Jim? Thank You for Your consideration of my question and for allowing me to express my opinion. I appreciate You.
Jim: Not if he's one of the team's best backs, and a guy capable of helping the team. I don't know what he's scheduled to make, and at this point, his compensation doesn't matter to me. Tyjae Spears looked like the team's best running back last offseason, until he got hurt in the preseason opener at Tampa Bay. The team has money if it wants to spend it elsewhere in free agency – it doesn't have to come at Tyjae's expense. But we need to see how he looks in the coming months, and the arrival of running back Nick Singleton could impact things, too. With Tony Pollard, Singleton, Michael Carter, Kalel Mullings and Julius Chestnut, there's competition at the position.
Paul Kinney from Southaven, Mississippi
Question: Not a traditional question. But do you think Carnell Tate will stick with jersey # 14 or will he pick a different one after the roster is cut down to 53?
Jim: Hey Paul. I suspect he'll stick with 14. He wanted 17, but that's Chimere Dike's number. Chim went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie, so he shouldn't even be asked to give it up. I don't necessarily think Carnell has a back-up number, but I can't say that with 100 percent certainty.
Julian Concepcion from Clarksville, Tennessee
Question: Hi Jim. Thank you for all you do with the Titans! I have always been a reader of your articles and mailbags. Do you think Levis could possibly beat out Trubisky for the back up QB position and Trubisky being the one on the trade block if Levis looks better in the preseason than Mitch? I think many of us assumed Levis would get traded and Trubisky is the "for sure" back up to Cam, but something tells me that Levis could have a better camp/preseason than Mitch and Mitch could be the oddball left out?
Thanks in advance and Shout out to Coach Mac!!!
Jim: Appreciate it, Julian. I think Trubisky is the team's No.2 QB. I like Levis, but I did see what Trubisky's contract looked like, and he has experience and a history of stepping in and playing well if needed. The question for me is whether Levis is around as the No.3 when the season starts in September.
Drew Hall from Waco, Texas
Question: Wouldn't the Titans had been better served taking Arvel Reese at 4 and then getting a WR early in the 2nd round or even taking an OG like Bisontis in the 2nd round and getting Brazzell in the 3rd? Seems they reached at 4 and then traded back into the first round and reached again.
Jim: Hey Drew. The Titans like Tate, and his potential, better than that of Reese, and that's why they picked him.
Bryce Boyd from Hendersonville, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim! I have loved seeing the new branding of the titans this offseason, I am always fascinated with logo design and branding with any team, but this is my Tennessee Titans. I believe the team hit the nail on the head, the branding represents the state as well as the aesthetic of the city perfectly. As someone who loves seeing the behind the scenes on projects like this, would you know if there are any plans on revealing what the process looked like, what logos were tested, what fonts were being experimented with, what jersey concepts were tested, etc? Thank you!
Jim: I think you've probably seen all you're going to see on that front, Bryce. The team rolled out a bunch of stuff right after the reveal, but the focus is back on football now. Don't get me wrong: I like the new look, from the logo to the uniforms. But you always hear folks say it's about keeping the main thing the main thing. Since you asked me, I think football is, and will always be, the main thing around here. The rebrand got its time, now it's back to the product on the field and trying to win more football games.
Andrea Jones from Nashville, Tennessee
Question: Greetings Jim! Long time reader! Would you please pass along to the powers that be, this year's bobble head be Coach Mac! We all adored him. I have a digital picture frame in my office and see pictures I had made with him at the many Draft Parties over the years. Thank you! God Bless and TITAN UP!!
Jim: I'll pass this along, Andrea. I actually have a Coach Mac bobblehead – he gave one to me, from a limited edition pack that was made. It's a beaut. And, you're right, everyone loved Coach Mac. He's missed every day.
Richard Robles from Springfield, Tennessee
Question: Hi Jim. With how things are going our way, I think that there's still more life for more practices.
But question is: Is there any news about the Preseason Games?
Jim: Hey Richard. The preseason dates will be released when the regular season schedule is released by the NFL on Thursday.
Have a great weekend everyone!
