NASHVILLE – And we're on to Week 3.
The Titans have dropped the first two games of the 2026 season, but there were signs of progress in last Sunday's game against the Eagles.
So, against the Giants on Sunday, will the Titans look like they did in Week 1, or Week 2?

Question: I'm on to New York. The Eagles game showed we can compete hopefully we can keep that play going for the rest of the season especially for this Giants game with a back-up quarterback I don't wanna say it's a must win but for morale and for us to put a game in the win column would you say that it's a must win??
One more question I'm not talking about totally benching Tate but do you think it would be better for Elic to start and just use Tate in certain packages it's like Elic is primed and ready and I feel like we are prolonging his progress by not having him on the field early and often just a thought would love to know what you think

Jim: Hey Gary. I hate calling game in September "must wins," but I certainly understand where you're coming from. The Titans need to find a way to win this game. Elic is coming into his own, but the team has to stick with Tate. I think it's just a matter of time before he starts showing up more.

Question: Hi, I have a comment and a question.
The Titans are showing some signs of progress. The next couple of games will give fans a clearer picture of how strong the team is physically and mentally. The team is the fifth youngest in the NFL and it takes at least three to four years for a rebuild to be fully solid. Playing in the NFL is harder than it seems but we know the Titans are getting to where they need to be. Playing Quarterback, Linebacker, Cornerback, Left Tackle, Center, and Running back is not easy in the NFL.
Howard University Football is establishing itself as a powerhouse for developing next-level talent with the new coaching staff in place. Howard Football is in the MEAC conference and they are getting even more exposure playing some Big 10 opponents, Patriot League opponents, and Ivy League opponents. Howard Football's first game was on ABC and the views ranged from 1.2 million - 1.7 million. Some RBs, LBs, DBs, OLs, K, P, and WRs have been picking up a lot of traction, lately.
Howard University Football is the place to scout for the 2027-2029 draft cycles, especially 2028-2029 NFL Draft cycles. Five NFL teams have already attended practices.
Will the Titans scouts attend the practices at Howard University Football, too? The Titans don't want to miss out on the next HBCU contributor to the NFL.
Jim: Thanks for taking the time. I do believe this team will get better as the season goes, and if that happens, then this will be a much more entertaining season than the past few years. Nice heads up on Howard. I know our scouts are all over the country, looking for diamonds in the rough. If there's an NFL caliber player out there, the NFL will find him most of the time. Cortland Finnegan, from Samford University, is a perfect example of that here.

Question: Hey Jim, longtime reader first time writer. I've been a lifelong Titans fans since early McNair/George years. With having plenty of cap room in my opinion I think it's time to sign Taylor Decker and Jack Conklin to rest of the season deals and insert them into the starting lineup at the 2 starting tackle spots and bench the lazy and turnstile efforts of Moore and Latham to show them that money and draft position doesn't automatically keep you as a starter with this team's new identity. Plus I think Decker and Conklin could really show young lineman like Coogan, Carmona, and Skoronski how to become great foundational leaders of a NFL offensive line. It is already obvious we are going to and should target the bookends of the offensive line next April so why not spare some cash for great wisdom for our young guys and although being older, a good upgrade. Low risk/high reward in my opinion. What do you think? Is it too far out there of an idea or does it carry some possible merit? Go Titans!!!
Jim: Hey Austin. I think you need to prepare yourself for this not to happen. The Titans are going to roll with Moore and Latham at the tackle position, barring injury. And they haven't been as bad as you're making them out to be. Could they be better? Yes. They both need to be more consistent, but a lot of teams would love to see better play out of their tackles. We'll have to wait and see how the team addresses the tackle position next offseason.

Question: Hi Jim, hope you are staying cool in the heat! A loss is a loss but i am taking positives from the game & i hope the team are too. I want to ask you about ticketing for Titans games. I realize Nashville is a destination game for lots of fans but it is getting out of hand, the Eagles game really brought embarrassment. Is it that season ticket holders are selling their tickets for the game? Or are tickets available for everyone on a game by game basis? Keep the faith Jim!
Jim: Hey Neil. The heat finally broke. It's actually beautiful in Nashville now, more like fall. Hey Neil. It's a combination of the two, and as I've mentioned in here a few times lately, I agree, it is embarrassing.

Question: Hey Jim! How do you think the Titans will rally on the road after a stronger performance against the Eagles this past weekend? I see things are starting to click on offense, and the defensive presence is there now too.
Jim: Hey Tyler. Well, we've seen two version of the 2026 Titans so far – one terrible performance, and one nearly good enough to win. I think this team is closer to what we saw against the Eagles than what we saw against the Jets, but time will tell.

Question: Hi Jim. Thanks for all you do to keep us Titans fans informed. I agree with most who acknowledge some improved play against the Eagles, but there is still much to do, particularly in pass defense -- too many wide open receivers. Are we ever going to consistently play the ball instead of zoning? Also, I want to side with Tuesday's mail from Bear about the annoying cookie setting obstructions that must be overcome in order to submit a question to the Mailbag. Try submitting a question to yourself, Jim, and you'll see what we are bitching about. And I'll join Bear in wondering why in heck the Titans didn't force the Eagles to field the kickoff in the field of play after going ahead 20-17. Doing so would accomplish 2 things: run time off the clock and possibly, depending on return coverage, lengthen the distance for them to reach the point for a tying field goal attempt, let alone score the touchdown which they ultimately did. Freely giving them 35 yards on that kickoff was a terrible and costly decision which probably cost the Titans a win. Oh well, maybe the next game will be better. Cheers!

Question: What will it take for the management, coaches, and owner to understand that we don't want Cam Ward as our quarterback? A lot of us all believe that Will Levis should have been our starter because Levis never had a real chance to have second chance because he got hurt to lead our team. We the fans should have a say what happens with our team and a lot of us will never support ward as our quarterback. We also won't stop booing until he's gone and we have Levis back as starter.

Question: Hey There Jim! First time chiming in this year. Well that's what we needed to see, "progress". I know it will only take time for this team and new coaching staff to gel and for Cam to "progress". I tell people if we just see 3-4 more wins a year, we will be fine and know we are going in the right direction, barring injuries. Hoping for 6-7 wins this year and hopefully 9-11 the next with hopes of a playoff berth. Please be patient Titan fans?
I did think we should have at least tried one end zone shot at the end instead of just running and just trying to get a closer FG attempt. If nobody open, throw it away or maybe even hope of a PI call to put it on the one.
Anyway, I like the "progress" being shown and there will still probably be more losses than wins again this year, but let's give it time.

One last thing about a response from the "I want to speak to your manager!" women, Terry Kay,.is that Kay short for Karen??,.just kidding,.but that was my first thought after her ridiculous rant,..TITAN UP!
Jim: Good to hear from you Brad. I think fans just want a reason to believe. The opener was discouraging, and left fans up in arms. Week 2 was more encouraging, but still not good enough. So, which Titans team will show up on Sunday? Well, the Titans need to win this game. I know the Titans are slight underdogs, but you have to find a way to win this game against a banged-up Giants team, in what could be sloppy conditions. If it doesn't happen, I can only imagine what the mailbag will look like on Tuesday.
