NASHVILLE – Well, that was ugly.
There's not a lot more you can say about Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Texans.
The lopsided defeat sure opened the floodgates to the mailbag.
I know no one wants to hear any pleasantries about now, so let's get right to it.

Question: Hi Jim, I've held off writing until now, just wanted to give it some time. I will be a Titan fan till i die but Sunday was really hard to watch. It seems like we're getting worse with every game. And it also seems like we're cursed; nothing's going right for us. If something was good, like the special teams, then you can be sure that as soon as something else gets better, like fewer penalties, the special teams will mess up their kicks. I personally like Callahan a lot, he seems like a decent, honest guy, knows ball in theory but it doesn't seem to be working. Why doesn't he bench players who aren't performing? He can't be Mr. Nice Guy forever. Sneed makes amateurish mistakes on 3/33 yards just has to be benched as punishment not forever but at least i would have take him out for the next snaps. And what I don't understand is, if you keep doing the same thing in training same routine, you can't expect different results, can you? What do you think? It clearly doesn't seem to be working, so something has to be done. Bring in a Restrepo or someone from the practice squad. I'd rather lose with less quality on the field, but I see that players are putting their heart and soul into it, than someone like Sneed or Ridley who simply not capable at the moment they should be our best players and they aren't. We're getting used to no performance, and that's dangerous. But that's the problem. Callahan protects his players too much and is too nice instead of making them pay for their mistakes, and so they shirk their responsibility.
Jim: Hey Filip. I hear what you're saying, and I appreciate you taking the time. We'll see what happens moving forward. I will say it's hard to "bench" guys in games, especially with limited numbers on game days. And if you're benching a guy like Sneed, you'd be putting a less experienced player in his place. I don't necessarily think what Sneed did on Sunday, giving up the big play on 2nd and 33, should have resulted in him being benched. But it was a terrible and embarrassing lapse, especially after his comments from earlier in the week. Now if this season keeps going down the path it's going, I'm all for giving other guys a chance.

Question: Hi Jim, Here's hoping you and the team get over Sunday's awful performance against the Texans very soon--like before playing in AZ. I noted some improvement in the 4th quarter using quicker drop back and release passing. Too bad some of those passes were poorly thrown, and others were well covered. Regarding play calling, there were way too many interior runs. The no-call on the hand to Ward's face on the Titan's first possession should result in suspension of the responsible official. Let's hope for a better result against AZ.TITAN UP!
Jim: I hear ya. Not sure how the officials missed that call. If that happened to Mahomes, Al-Shaair probably would have been arrested.
Andy Brown from Leeds, England
Question: Hey Jim. I've written in a fair few times and always value your opinion! I have to say this might be one of the worst Titans teams and series of performances in years. We look like we completely lack leadership and competitiveness. I've always been a positive fan and defended various players when they've been slated so the positives for me are:
Simmons is a beast, no doubt about it
Ward shows flashes but there is nothing around him to help
Eric Ayomanor shows promise.
Negatives though massively out weigh them, Oline crumbles and no running lanes, Pollard looks like hes lost his cuts and running power, Defense giving up big plays (albeit ill give them a pass lately due to Offense not giving them much rest!)
I just cannot see where a win will come from, or what we do, we need about 15 players just to be competitive and I really worry for the next few years, this doesn't feel like it will turn around fast :(
How can you see it getting better? what can we do?
Jim: Hey Andy. I'm not going to sugar-coat it – it's been hard to watch.
I agree with your comments on Simmons, Ward and Ayomanor.
And, I agree the negatives outweigh the positives right now.
I do think this team should be better than it's shown, and that hasn't happened for several reasons. At the start of the season, I thought going 6-11 would be an achievement. Based on what we've seen so far, that's not going to happen unless some things change quickly.
Rick Foltz from Harrisburg, North Carolina
Question: Hey Jim. Hope all is well with you and yours. First of all I do have respect for this Titans rookie class, I think they had a good draft. Why is this offense struggling so badly.? They are not having to play the best defenses in the league except Denver which they should have won. How long will it take Miss Amy and this organization to move on from this head coach. Titans are closing in on a year since the last W. Very hard to watch bad football.
Jim: Hey Rick. The offense has had a lot of issues, from play-calling to performance. I can't answer for the owner. But you're right on the time frame for the last win – the streak is now 10 losses in a row dating back to November 24, 2024.
DeAndre Hunter from Clarksville, Tennessee
Question: Hey Mr Wyatt. Finally got my computer working again. These past few weeks have been bittersweet for me as a player and as a Titans fan. We're 4-2 and 3rd in our district (I play for West Creek Middle) but we're out of the championship because we lost to the defending champs 7-0 and another team because of the offense not being consistent along with HORRIBLE REF CALL. I'm gonna stop there because I might go into a rant.
But a comment set me off but I couldn't argue with (especially since it's true) that our offense can't score points so we're like the middle school Titans with a better record. I didn't even argue because it seems like the offense (like us particularly the line and consistency on offense) haven't stepped up the way they needed to. How have the coaches thought about adapting to the players and is the chemistry and better or worse than the start of the season?
Jim: Oh man, DeAndre. That sounds like a low blow. I can't sit here and tell you things are better compared to the start of the season, not after getting shut out. Good luck to West Creek Middle, DeAndre.
Connie Lee from Clarksville, Tennessee
Question: Hi Jim, my first time writing in on a very sad sports day for me... Titans (lost) big to the Texans and the American Ryder Cup team (was) decimated. I have tickets to the Titans VS Texans game in November. My question is would Nissan Stadium consider a fan discount for beer during home games? It might keep the enthusiasm up! Best wishes to you and the team.
Jim: Thanks, Connie. I would be great for you to show up.
Brandon Tilley from Johnson City, Tennessee
Question: Its me again, I usually write in about once a year and this week felt very fitting.
What a game... I literally turned the TV off after the 1st quarter and told my wife i feel so sorry for the people that actually have to watch this garbage since their job depends on it. So for that Jim, im sorry. (But hey, Vandy is on Fire and I know your stoked about that. Cant wait til my Vols and Vandy go at it at the end of the season, should be a great game!)
The Titans are absolutely terrible! Nobody acts like they even care either which is even worse and reflects a lot on the coaching in my opinion. Bad teams with good coaching will still have wins in spurts, compete in some 4th quarters with good teams, and the players will actually look like they are flying around making plays. None of that is happening now Jim and thats depressing. I dont even know where to start either... Do you remember a Titans team so lifeless? I dont. Most of the players honestly looked like went to the Spay/Neutered clinic this week if you get what i mean. Sorry to vent Jim but i cant even watch my beloved Titans anymore.
I guess the real question is what is your honest (as honest as you can be on the team website) opinion of the team right now? If Jim Wyatt was named head coach tomorrow what would be your plan and what would be the first thing you'd do?
Youve been around Football a LONG time so i know you have an answer to those questions lol.
Have a blessed week brother!
Jim: Hey Brandon. You're right in that I'm fired up about Vandy. I don't agree that folks in the building don't care. I think Cam's postgame presser showed how much it bothers him, and Jeffery Simmons and others were really upset after the game, too. … What's my opinion of the team? This question reminds me of the time a reporter asked Tommy Lasorda about his opinion of Dave Kingman's performance after Kingman hit three homers against the Dodgers. Do yourself a favor and Google it, but only if you're not easily offended. Lasorda went on an expletive-filled tirade. I'm certainly not going to do that in here. But my opinion of the team right now is not good. The team has been underwhelming, there's no way around it. As for the first thing I'd do if I were named head coach, I'd fire myself as the head coach, because these coaches know more about football than I do. But I've watched enough to football to know things look bad right now, and everyone from the front office to the coaches to the players are on the spot to fix it.
Amy Kovalcheck from Franklin, Tennessee
Question: Hello, I am an aerobics teacher in Franklin. I work at the community center pool and teach a mix of classes. I would like to invite the team to a class. The team spirit seems a bit low. I know these guys are elite athletes, I know it might sound a little crazy- but the biggest most important part of my position is cheering people on. Maybe a fun workout could help the guys. I remember when the team came to TN, the Music City Miracle, our big conference wins and I want them to know they can do it. If I can get grumpy old people to smile and work their booties off maybe some of that magic will help our Titans.
Jim: Thanks for the offer, Amy. I need to send a guy by the name of Tyler Rowland, aka @TicTacTitans, out to see you. I hear his morale is pretty low right now and he could probably use a boost! Maybe he'll bring his frenemy Jared Stillman with him.😊
Jeffery Raney from Pittsburg, Texas
Question: Hello Jim. Do you think there is a possibility the Titans could reunite with Jeff Fisher in some capacity in the future? I always thought of him as a level head in the middle of chaos.
Jim: No.
Jamie Williams from Ashland City, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim.. I'm sure I may speak for a lot of fans in pondering if we've seen things reach the bottom, or certainly hoping they have at this point. With that said, there are a few players which you would think were key to what we wanted to do and have either not been able to see at all or have had such limited action it hasn't mattered- Tajae Spears, JC Latham, and T. Sweat. Two part question.. Where do you feel like we'd be with these players in the mix and what do their timelines look like at this point? I know Latham and Sweat still have some weeks left on IR. Obviously this team has more holes than can be plugged, but we can't afford to be down any good players. Thanks
Jim: Hi Jamie. Hard to say where the team would be if they'd been available, but I'm not going to sit here and say the results would be different. Obviously, they'd help. I think Spears and Latham could be back this week, but Sweat is still several weeks away, on Injured Reserve. Latham is not on IR, by the way.
Greg Accas from Nashville, Tennessee
Question: Well, another Sunday, another disappointing display for the Titans. While I'd like to think that this loss was due to poor play-calling, even with a new play-caller, we played one of the most uninspired games I have ever seen the Titans play. Using the currently popular catchphrase in football, I have to say that we played complementary football: we were horrible in all phases!! It's beginning to look as if this staff has lost the team. Watch the poor tackling, receivers not getting any separation as well as dropped passes (#1 in league), allowing opposing receivers to be open (how do we allow a 1st down on 2nd and 33 ??), continuing O-line issues, not ever getting into the red zone, etc.
As we look forward to the rest of the season, the current Las Vegas odds makers think that the Titans will win 4.5 games. In looking at the remaining schedule, I challenge anybody to find 2 or 3 games, let alone 4.5 games, that we will win in the next 13. Some national sportswriters have stated that this team "is a disaster", and the Titans have done nothing to disprove that belief.
While I would like to point the finger only at the current coaching staff for being 3-18 in their tenure, I am aware that the past two GMs did nothing to help the team roster. However, Callahan and his coaches knew the hand they were dealt and should have been able to put this team in a better position than it is. While it appears that the new GM, Mike Borgonzi, did a pretty good job in the 2025 draft, it's obvious that we need a lot of improvement in so many areas that we will be rebuilding for several years to come. While I would love for there to be a magic wand solution, that is only wishful thinking!
I feel sorry for those season ticket holders that will be paying a lot more for their tickets in the new stadium in 2027 and have to continue watching this brand of "professional" football!
Thanks again, Jim for allowing us fans to vent about the current worst team in the league!
Jim: Hey Greg. I'll be honest: I'm shocked to hear the current Las Vegas oddsmakers have the over-under at 4.5 wins.
Chuck Rhoten from Kingsport, Tennessee
Question: This team is just bad. We don't have the talent. I don't know if we can get the enough weapons during the next offseason or not. We need help everywhere. What players we do have are not making plays or playing good enough. That being said our coaches are not doing a good job either. It is hard to watch this team each week. Our OL line coach is supposed to be a genius but we look worse each week. They didn't give up as many sacks but Cam was pressured all day. The defense quit. This team is showing no fight or pride. It is time for a change.
Jim: Good to hear from you, Chuck.
Tobias Hildesheim from Hamburg, Germany
Question: Hey Jim. Another Sunday gone by with another tough loss. I watch the NFL through the Redzone conference (so there is not much live Titans-football for me sadly), but I wonder what makes us so different from the other teams. Why don't we have a surprise turnaround (the last one was on a monday night game against Miami a lifetime ago). Why isn't our team capable to play football over 100 yards and 4 quarters?
In the offseason everyone was surprised that Cam came to the facility at 5 in the morning. Perhaps everyone on the team should do that. Practice is the only thing they can do! From monday to saturday! Heck, they should get together after official practice and do it again!
Last but not least, I wonder about the Brownlee-trade. We got next to nothing for a guy that at least had guts and showed that he wanted to win. Of course he was responsible for a lot of penalties, but he at least tried. We need those kind of guys, not players like Sneed who eat a lot of cap-space but have done nothing worth remembering in a Titans-uniform. Well, it can only go up from here.
Jim: Thanks for chiming in from Germany, Tobias.
George Steiner from Jackson, Mississippi
Question: Jim, just had to follow up after that game. What I've been most disappointed in is our OL. It seemed like we upgraded this offseason. Instead, it's the same disappointing unit we've come to loathe. I like Borgonzi but those offseason ol additions seem like mistakes. On top of all that, the play calling isn't any better now that Callahan isn't doing it. Maybe it's a problem from top to bottom and the whole group should be fired, I don't know. What I do know is that I'm going to be a lot more invested on Saturdays for my Vols than Sundays. Guess I don't really have a question sorry. Thanks for letting me rant.
Jim: Hey George. It was a mess on Sunday for sure. But I'll be honest: The o-line held up better than I thought it would against the Texans. Can't say the same in other areas.
Bob Leonardi from Pittston, Pennsylvania
Question: With an 0 and 16 record and the first pick in the draft the titans pick......
Jim: Have to correct you here, Bob. The NFL switched to a 17-game season a few years ago.
Kody Allen from Bardstown, Kentucky
Question: Hi Jim. Hope you are doing well amongst the sea of negativity. I was raised in a Raiders household, but decided I was a Titans fan when I was 4-5 years old in the late 90's. I have bled two-tone blue ever since. Vibes seem worse than they were during the Whisenhunt era. Never thought we would sink lower, but here are.
The rookie class this year has been great, and I hope next year's is too. But how long should fans expect before the product on the field becomes at least a 9-8 team again? Hell, I'll settle for 7 or 6 wins at this point. I don't see any Super Bowls in our future any time soon. I just want to have fun watching Titans football again. I can't stand to see this franchise be the laughing stock of the league.
I think patience is a virtue that not many fans have in the NFL anymore. With the quick rise and fairly instant success of QB's like Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen; I feel like several fanbases are in a "win-now" mentality. The many echo chambers of social media do not help this either. Where things stand currently, I do not expect us to be "back" for sometime. I hope I am wrong.
I know no one truly has the answer I seek, but I am just worried we are about to trend down a dark era of constant rebuilds. I can't justify spending the money for tickets, and making the drive down to Nissan right now with the on field product, and that sucks. Hope it turns around sooner than later. Sorry to add to the pessimism. Keep doing your thing Jim. Appreciate your work.
Jim: Hey Kody. Thanks for taking the time. I'm not going to make any promises in here. Based on what I've seen, it's going to take some time. This team is in a hard rebuild, and I'm not sure we've reached the low point yet. I'm just being completely honest. Hang in there. I know this team has a lot of loyal fans, and they've been put through a lot over the last four seasons.
Fred Trotman from St Louis, Missouri
Question: No question here. Sneed should've been traded instead of Brownlee. We should trade Ridley also. This team doesn't look like it'll win 2 games. Let's commit to the rebuild and maybe we can be competitive in about 3-4 yrs
Jim: Hey Fred. The rebuild is under way.
Steve Rochelle from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee
Question: Just one statement not really a question!!! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY ON PLAYERS AND COACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim: Thanks for chiming in, Steve.
Joe Allen from Gainesboro, Tennessee
Question: Well, first time I turned the game off before the 4th quarter! I have tried to stick with this team, since they had Warren Moon and the run and shoot, but this offensive line or lack there off it, well I don't need to harp on that as we all know where the issues are! In my opinion, Cam throws a rocket and some just don't see it quick enough. There were also some throws that were behind the receiver and Cam does hold on too long sometimes. Tell me again what Sneed is doing out there? He looked lost and we paid thru the nose for him and Ridley. Just where was Jefferson today? I guess my only question is: Are we going to win a game this year? I had such high hopes.
Thanks for putting up with us fans Jim, I'm sure this mailbag will be full of hopes and joy's
Jim: No hopes and joys spotted in here, Joe.
Gregory Smith from Nashville, Tennessee
Question: Jim,I hate to be wrong:because everything is so wrong with this Team!!!! The Coach & The Coaching Staff, The Offense, Defense,& Special Teams, The Front Office especially The Owner Amy Adams Strunk, President of Football Operations Chad Brinker, Injuries, Penalties, Offensive line it begins with Bill Callahan too, Sacks continued to pile up on our Young Quarterback Cam Ward. How did it come to this by firing Mike Vrabel, Jon Robinson messed up the team for good by Trading Receiver AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles, Jon Robinson also had bad Draft Picks especially Isiah Wilson and Most of All that got him fired Treylon Burks. Mike Vrabel messed up as well by promoting his friend Todd Downing as Offensive Coordinator that played a huge factor in bad Play Calling decisions, Derrick Henry wanted to leave. We're continuing deep in the hole we still try to climb out of & I feel sorry for Cam,not much talent around him, some free agents we have are either overpaid or washed up. You can build a $2.1 or $.2.2 Billion Dollar stadium but you can't build a Competitive Team to fight to keep fans in the Stands, and compete for Championships,Playoffs,Divisions, and Wins like 2018-2021!!!!! But my Titans' Team was the 2008 like the 1999,& 2000!!! The late Founder & Owner KS "Bud" Adams build something special before slowing detroyed we tried to compete especially all the players who got us there at Super Bowl XXXIV, I blame him alot of things but Drafting the late#9 Quarterback Steve "Air" McNair, Eddie George, "The" Jevon Kearse were the good 'ol days the Keith Bullock. My question is what it take to find Success when it comes to winning by Firing Brian Callahan, his Father, Firing Chad Brinker, and Miss Adams Strunk needs to sale the The Team to finnaly heal for her liability & mistakes on her part as well. Will it ever get better before the season is up,it's already is!!! Thank Jim for all you do, still a fan since they move from Houston, still believe in this,I believe we will get in 2 years when everything goes right and compete for a Championship & one day hopefully finnaly a Home Playoff game as The #1 Seed for Home-Field Advantage at the New Nissa Stadium!!!! TITAN UP 🏈!!!!
Jim: There's a lot in here, Gregory. I'm going to need some time to think about all this.
Maximus Freebird from Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Question: How much longer are we as fan supposed to pay exorbitant prices for a completely inferior product? How much longer do we have to put up with this completely inept coaching staff. EVERYONE but the Titans brass can see Callahan is not, I repeat is NOT a good head coach yet here we are Monday morning and "Cally" is still at the helm. There was a cut scene during the game that summed Callahan up perfectly in yesterday's game. It was when "Bones" Fassel was talking to "Cally" during another long third down and when the cameras were focused on those 2 coaches you could see the fear, panic and sheer desperation in Callys eyes.He looked like he was completely flummoxed with no idea what to do, I implore you to go back and review that footage if you don't recall what I am speaking of, Stevie Wonder could see this dude is in way over his head. How this dude is a head coach is still mind boggling. He never called plays in an NFL game before he got here and he worked with a couple great QB's who were already great before Callahan introduced himself to those dudes. He had done NOTHING else to deserve being a head coach and every week he's showing that working with a couple great players does not equate into being a good head coach. I'm sure Cally is a very nice guy and that is probably his biggest problem, he's too nice and is getting run over by the players in the locker room because he's too nice to put his foot down or maybe he just doesn't know how to put his foot down. Either way Callahan must go, everyone that is a Titans fan knows this, why doesn't management?? His dad is supposed to be some O'line "guru" and our O-line hasn't improved one iota. Please let Mike Borganzi get his people in here to clean this mess up and I have zero idea who Borganzi's "people" are but they sure as hell can not be as bad as Cally and his daddy. If you read all the way thru, thank you Jim-you smug bastard. I hope your day is a good one and you and yours are well!!
Jim: I did read all the way through, Maximus. I'll take "smug bastard" as a compliment.
Paul Moore from Charleston, Missouri
Question: Hi, Jim. Callahan coaches like he's been on a 3-day tequila bender...shaky, sweaty, pale and not too sure of himself. I've been watching this team for almost 50 years & he continues to amaze me in his short time as Head Coach.
My question is: Will the NFL flex the December 28 game when the 0-15 Saints visit the 0-15 Titans? I honestly think it would be awesome.
Thanks & have a good day.
Jim: Won't know about the flex games until December, although I think you're being facetious.
Mark Castiglione from Milford, Massachusetts
Question: Jim…I have too many questions to even list. Im just speechless. This Brian Callahan experiment just clearly isnt working. God bless you on this mailbag my friend… it's gonna be a bloodbath. All the credit goes your level of patience as you go through this mailbag. However that said… still a diehard fan…& come Sunday at 1:00 my Sunday Ticket will be on Watching the Titans.
Ok I lied, maybe one quick question/comment. I know the offense ( or lack of ) is pretty much non existent up until now. Eventually when we do get things turned around (I hope very soon… like this Sunday soon), what are your thoughts on Gunnar Helm and his role moving forward? Dont get me wrong I love Okonkwo and think hes got massive potential as well.
I see Helm potentially being one of the better tight ends in this league. His size and speed is incredible & he seems to have good hands. You see more of him on a daily basis on the practice field ( especially route running ability along with hands & football IQ ). Would love to hear your take on his skills and what his role will be moving forward. I Would love to see the Titans use alot more twin TE set. I think Okonkwo & Helm compliment each other extremely well & what one lacks, the other is exceptional at vice versa. Now to mention I think having two TEs on the field…well id say Cam needs ALL the help he can get in any form with blocking & pass protection. Living up here in New England reminds me of the old Patriots how they used Hernandez & Gronkowski ( not that I am saying Chig and Helm could be thise two… definitely NOT LOL).
As always thanks again for what you do Jim & staying connected with the fanbase. As I said in my previous email, fans need to grateful for this. As much as folks use this forum as a personal therapeutic venting session, It still needs to be acknowledged that many other organizations/fans do not have this opportunity. Thanks again for your time Jim.
Jim: Hey Mark. I'm all for playing Gunnar more. I appreciate the organization letting me do this as well, but admit it was more fun when the team won games, and it gave us more variety in the mailbag. A lot of fans regularly tee off in here, and I give them the freedom to do so. And, believe me, there are some that don't make the mailbag because they're so nasty. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't fear that one day someone is going to come to me and say I need to limit/edit the submissions because they're too negative. Of course winning a game every once in a while would help matters.
Jeremy Rodriguez from Winchester, California
Question: Jim, this is getting more and more embarrassing. Sneed got the most money in that secondary and he is the biggest weakness; Ridely got the most money of that receiving core and he has the most slippery hands. There is no want out of this team. Nobody wants to win. They want to compete; they don't want to win. That starts with Callahan. I have never wanted a coach fired, but if happens, I am not gonna be mad. Have a great week Jim, on to Arizona. As always TITAN UP!
Jim: Appreciate it, Jeremy.
Have a great week everyone!
