Tuesday Mailbag: Titans Fans React to Sunday's Loss to the Colts

MailbagAskJim

NASHVILLE – It was another tough Sunday for the Titans, and their fans.

The team dropped to 1-4 by letting another winnable game slip away against the Colts.

Next up the Titans travel to Buffalo, and then Detroit.

I think we all know this could get a lot uglier if some things aren't figured out around here.

I'll do my best to answer some questions, although I know a lot of you just want to sound off.

Brace yourself as we dive into another mailbag…

Brian Kroboth from Emmaus, Pennsylvania
Question: Hi Jim. Hope all is well!! Love the direction of the defense.. hopefully they don't unload anyone before trade deadline. As for the offense, it seems like Coach Cally is trying to protect Levis from making turnovers and not letting playmakers get more involved for making big plays. We have the weapons!! Now you hear players are starting to get frustrated with the play calling. I believe in giving Levis a chance, but is the time up to make a permanent change at qb for the rest of the season?

Jim: Hey Brian. The defense has been really good, still ranked No.1 in the NFL. It's given the team a chance to win just about every week. But I thought the defense was just OK on Sunday, and could've done more to win the game. The defense wasn't very good on third down, didn't register a sack, had too many penalties, couldn't hold the lead, etc. The biggest problem, of course, was the offense. As for a QB chance, I'm not expecting it.

Cesar Aguirre from Dallas, Texas
Question: Hello Jim. What do you think about Will Levis so far? Do you really think Rudolph can do better?
I'm not going to put total blame on Will Levis. He's had a few bad plays but nothing more than the one where he got hurt. we need him healthy Let's get back to the basics and it starts with these 3.
1 special teams
2 offensive line
3 defensive line.
We are striking out on the first two. Coach Callahan needs to get this figured out very soon. It's his offense. This father and son combo must fix the offense and put Levis in a position to succeed. Also get the ball to our playmakers. And for special teams If you are not going to win any games at least don't lose any.

Jim: Hey Cesar. Will Levis hasn't been good so far. He's turned the ball over 10 times in five games, hasn't stepped up with the game on the line when he's had opportunities, and he doesn't appear to be getting better. And, yes, I think the team would probably have a better record if Mason Rudolph had started the first five games. That's just my opinion, based on what I've seen from Levis, and from Rudolph in his career, and his time on the practice field with the Titans. With all that said, I completely understand why Levis has been the QB, and why I feel like coaches will continue to stick with him. I've said this in here a dozen times: This season was always going to be about finding out whether Levis can be the guy or not. Levis is talented, and he's a hard-working guy. He has a great attitude. I see the potential. But right now, after 14 starts, things aren't looking great. At this point, I thought he'd better than he's been. I thought this team would be better than it's been. But here we are. I'll also say this: Levis isn't the only reason the team is 1-4. You mentioned some of the other reasons. If other areas on the team were better, we wouldn't be talking as much about the quarterback.

Linda Gregory from Dickson, Tennessee
Question: I'm at a loss Jim. I watched the game with my husband and almost fell asleep. My husband did. I can't figure out how with the talented wide receivers we have, why they are almost useless in the offense. Before, when Levis spent more time on his back due to poor line play I could understand but they didn't allow a sack in this game for the first time in a long time. My question to you Jim is: Is it the fault of the play caller or is Levis just not getting it done? I have to wake my husband now but I look forward to your answer.

Jim: Neither deserves a free pass, Linda. It's both. Levis hasn't played well enough, and Coach Callahan keeps saying he has to do a better job to help Levis, and the receivers. It's not happening. The Titans have scored 17, 17, 14, and 17 points in their four losses. Not going to win a lot of games with those totals. The question now is if things are going to get better. We'll see. Hope your husband at least enjoyed his nap at least.

William Young from Las Vegas, Nevada
Question: Hi Jim. I pray all is well with you. After 5 games it's the Titans are starting to feel like the 1982, 1983 Oilers of old?! I've been a passionate fan since 1978 and unfortunately I believe the Titans will not win another game this year 1-16 is very possible looking at the schedule! Silver lining is the Titans will get the top pick in the draft but unfortunately Manning won't available until 2026 draft! Yep! That's my Titans/Oilers for you!

Jim: Tough road ahead for sure, William. The team better get better or it's going to be a looong season.

Sam Bingham from Tuscon, Arizona
Question: Hi Jim. Been a Fan all my life 60yrs old. My frustration is Coach wants to stay with Will Levis out of kindness guess he wasn't watching the game against the Dolphins. My question is why doesn't he start Mason for one full game and see what the problem is yes I get they want the kid to grow but , hey there 52 other players on this team who's window is closing and wants to win a championship so I feel they should've keep Ryan another year to groom this quarterback so he can see what it is to control a game now that you have some what fixed the O-Line Tannehill would've have time to look down the field and to Hit all these new Receivers they paid good money for instead of running Pollard into the ground. If he is the Franchise Quarterback, not looking like it why couldn't the Titan get lucky like Washington or Chicago even Denver but it seems there hasn't been anyone to fill McNair shoes just putting it out there. I bet all the receivers are tired from just running their routes and coming up short I bet those Receivers are not happy campers at the end of the game. Hey if the Jets made a move in the middle of the season what are the Titans waiting for???

Jim: I'm getting this QB question more and more, Sam.

TJ Sonafrank from Seagrove, North Carolina
Question: Hey Jim. Am I wrong to think that we played a very conservative game offensively? We had several screens of draws and it seems we can't trust Levis as QB, so we draw up safe plays to limit the possibility of giving the football away. I know he is still developing and has potential (Strong Arm, Competitive, and Big Physically), but I think they need to let him develop on the sideline for a few games. We have a challenging couple of games coming up so it's not like we have anything to lose. I thought we should have had him "develop" after week 2. It's just frustrating to see our defense play well enough to win games and we have such a good offensive on paper but can't score 20 points consistently. We need to get our high volume receivers more involved so we can have an explosive and dynamic team. New coaches but same game plan (Run First, Pass Under 5 Minutes). Let's Titan Up so we can score points!

Jim: It's certainly fair to question, TJ. This team has two plays of 30-plus yards in five games this season.

Richard Boyd from Brentwood, Tennessee
Question: The last time the Titans won two games in a row was November, 2022, when they beat the Packers. Since that time, the Titans are 7-22. The Carolina Panthers are 7-23. The New England Patriots are 8-23. That makes the Titans literally tied for one of the two or three worst organizations in the NFL from then until now. This is not hyperbole or a rant. These are facts. It seems to me that at some point the organization must look inward to ask itself why. Is it the coaching? The players? The culture? Something is very wrong. Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results but that is what the Titans do. A perfect example is Malik Willis. He looked like he did not belong in the NFL when he played for the Titans but he looked like an all-pro playing for the Packers. That tells me it is the culture in the organization that is the problem. I know you work for the team and cannot be too critical, but would you agree this is not fair to the fans who support the team? The culture must be changed or this will continue for a long time. It is also quite obvious that Coach Callahan is coaching scared. He is afraid to let Levis throw the ball downfield (with good reason), and has no confidence in the offense (made apparent by punting when 1 first down by the Colts would end the game and it did ). We won't win games like that no matter who we play. Are you still of the mind that Levis remains the quarterback? It is obvious we will end up 2-15 or something like that if he does. Is that what the organization wants?

Jim: All fair points, Richard. But the only thing the Titans are doing over and over again is losing. The former GM was fired, and replaced. The former HC was fired, and replaced. The roster was completely retooled, with new players. The team spend a lot of money in free agency. Efforts have been made to change the results, but it obviously hasn't happened yet because the team is sitting here at 1-4. And, the most frustrating part of it, is this team is good enough to be 4-1. I've said plenty about Levis, and what the plan was for him this season. We're finding out one week at a time. His body of work so far is underwhelming. But we can't ignore the fact he's five games in with a new coach, and offense. Lastly, the biggest way to change the culture is by winning. Until that starts happening on a more regular basis, I expect to get questions like this.

Eric McClellan from West Paducah, Kentucky
Question: 35+ year Oilers/Titans fan here, so I've been through the lean years for sure. Jim. I don't know if I have ever been THIS disappointed in a Titans team. They are better than this, but it sure isn't looking like it on the field. I wasn't sold on Levis being the guy when we drafted him, but I got on board and threw my full support and hopes that he could end up being the QB of the future for our team. I can't defend it anymore, I think I have seen enough. This latest performance of 16-27 for 95 yards and 1 INT closes the book for me. I have lost hope for this season. Honestly, we need to keep playing him and see if anything miraculously changes. I do not believe it will. This will be tough to watch. Possibly end up 3-14.
But honestly, I do not see many winnable games on the schedule under this QB/system/team. If this continues the next few weeks, how aggressive do you think the team will be at trying to trade veteran talent under contract past this year for much needed draft capital to get out of this purgatory and begin a full on rebuild?

Jim: It's been a disappointing start, no doubt about it, Eric. Hard for me to answer this one right now. I'm not going to concede a 1-6 start, but I know the Titans will be underdogs the next two. If that happens, the team could have some decisions to make at the trade deadline for sure.

Carter Brallier from Nashville, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim love ya! I know it's a tough year for the team and for yourself with the mailbox you get. Just wanted to say we have all of the people (on paper) and I like Cally as a head coach. But maybe it's time he gives the play calling to the OC? Thoughts? Hope you're well! Titan Up!

Jim: Appreciate it, Carter, but I don't think this is going to happen.

Steve Hunt from Fort Worth, Texas
Question: Jim. I'm trying to understand the current situation with the coaching staff. Do they lack confidence in Levis to throw beyond five yards, consistently? If that's the case, why not switch to another quarterback or focus on the running game? I'd prefer a 2-3 yard gain on a run over a short pass any day.
Additionally, it's concerning to see Pollard with three catches for negative yardage. Why throw it if that's the outcome? And I've read that Ridley had eight targets but no catches, while expressing frustration about his involvement. The solution is simple: he needs to catch the ball!
As loyal Titans fans, it's tough to watch a team with so much talent struggle with a 1-4 record. We know they're better than this; we see it on the field each week. The inconsistency is frustrating, and the turnovers certainly don't help. I really believe the offense could benefit from a more complex scheme. While the defense is doing okay, I'd love to see more pressure and creative blitzing to keep opponents on their toes.
Please correct me if I've stated any incorrect information.

Jim: All your stats are accurate, Steve. I can't answer for the coaching staff, however. I was watching the same game as you, and agree it was a conservative game plan. Heck, Brian Callahan said so himself.

Douglas Wiggins from Kettering, Ohio
Question: Jim, like everyone, very frustrated. I was excited with the hiring of Callahan, I thought the offense would open up and look like the Bengals. So far there is no imagination at all. I was also excited about Levis, but it is time to sit him down. They need to try Rudolph, cause the season is already slipping away, and probably two losses coming up in the next two weeks.

Jim: Thanks for weighing in, Douglas.

Bobby Jones from Charlotte, North Carolina
Question: At this point are we still going to commit to Leviss being the starting QB? I truly have tried to believe in the young man but he is terrible. He telegraphs his passes he is missing throws. Our defense is to good for them to have to get ran to death because the offense can't produce. There is also too much talent in the wide receiver room for him to have games under 100 yards against a team so weak in pass coverage. Ya they played well but come on man. Our play call is being adjusted for Levis comfortablility but the guy can't make the throws. What do we do next? Tanking the season should not be an option.

Jim: Don't worry, Bobby, "tanking" the season is not an option. Even if the Titans don't win another game this season, it doesn't mean they "tanked." Teams don't "tank"; they're either good enough to win, or they're not.

Alf Ritter from Munich, Germany
Question: Another loss which should have been a win - this time against a division rival.
Next year will be better. As (almost) every year.

Jim: Good to hear from you in Munich, Alf.

Daryl Stjohn from Panama City, Florida
Question: As long as will is the starter i don't think I'll watch any more. we just played the worst def against the pass and he had 83 yards.this sad pathetic offense looks like the same crap i have been watching for years.i looked at the remaining schedule I see 1 and 15 I'm only looking for the 1st pick of the draft. side note we will probably draft a kicker with the first pick cause that's just what we do. One more thing has anyone seen how terrible Derrick Henry is doing yea we fir sure couldn't have used him 😕 😔 😞 😢

Jim: I can promise you the Titans won't draft a kicker in the first round, Daryl. And, it's a 17-game season – 1-15 isn't an option, unless there's a tie or a game canceled.

John Mellos from Montréal, Quebec
Question: Hello Jim! Hope all is well down south! I am very happy that fall is settling in and football is in full swing! This truly is the best time of the year if you ask me.
I have to say though, that loss was a bit of a bummer, so I thought it was as good a time as any to chime in. I was always taught that you should sandwich any negative comment with two positive ones, so here we go with a bit of positivity.
The offensive line really looked great Sunday. It gave me hope that they will continue to get on the same page and will eventually develop into a strong unit with an addition or two along the way. Thank goodness, because the past couple years have been pretty rough in that regard. At least we are making progress.
Unfortunately, this was the only positive I could draw from this game on the offensive side of the ball, because my negative comment is that I simply can't stand our offense this year. It is so frustrating to watch. I can get behind a conservative offensive approach, but it seems like in terms of play calling we are just playing scared. The coaching staff has to decide to either trust Levis enough to throw the ball downfield and get into a rhythm with his wideouts early in the game or just put him out of his misery. Because right now it seems like we're keeping him in a cage all game, barely moving the ball, then making him force it downfield in the 4th quarter once the defense and everyone else watching knows we have to throw the ball. We have nothing to lose this season. Let's at least give the kid a fair shot. Because right now it seems like we hired an offensive-minded coach just to become even more predictable than last year.
But in the interest of ending on a positive note, I'll say that watching Titans legend Derrick Henry dominate the league this year has at least given me a reason to stay excited about this season.
I know things will get better for the Titans as we continue to find our identity and an offensive recipe that works. Until then, don't stop thinking about tomorrow, and Titan up!!!

Jim: This qualifies as the most positive submission to the mailbag, John.

Chuy Cano from Corpus Christi, Texas
Question: Wow..... :) - :( :( :( :(......thats 1- 4 Mr. Wyatt. Defense again......played great...yea some bad penalties.....but the defense haf a good day......Soooo..ANOTHER interception. Levis is starting to b like when Henry would come onto the field....PREDICTABLE. Defenders already know levis is gonna throw a jump ball at some point! And seems now receivers r getting frustrated cuz they r not being used like the way they should b. We have 2 recivever that had 1,000 yards receiving last year and they're not getting the ball. Even the commentators during the game said that. Did u see Ridleys interview after the game n locker room....he pissed off cuz he ain't getting the ball. What blows my mind as a fan....is Tennessee spent all this $ on great recivevers and for coaches to say or management to say....We gonna keep playing Levis to c if he's our franchise qb. What does that mean?. Keep losing and when we get to 10 losses...oh yea...maybe he isn't our qb and try and make a change all late n season. If I was a receiver that would sit well with me...knowing that this season is abt the qb not abt being competitive, winning more games, putting the ball with the best possible qb to win some games and that this season to me looks like tryouts for Levis. Like I have said n my past comments....How long or actually...how many more losses 1-9....1-10.... is it gonna take b4 someone up top makes a change. We need a verteran qb with the ball. Put n Rudolph! We have tough teams coming up n schedule. Titan up man!

Jim: Been hearing from you a lot lately, Chuy.

Carl Settle from Trenton, New Jersey
Question: You are what your record says you are. Bad football teams find ways to lose close games. There just does not seem to be any spark. Our offense is as bland as our head coach.... The offense is like plain oatmeal.

Jim: The Titans definitely aren't getting it done.

Scott Taylor from Dayton, Ohio
Question: Greetings Jim
What a tough lose
A lost that shouldn't have been?
Jim. I guess the only real question is when is enough enough? I understand trying to see if someone can get it together but. W.Levis is not getting it together.
AND HE'S NOT GOING TO.
I might be a old couch coach but I seen enough to kno if someone is going to take a forward step and he is not taking any steps forward. And I thought Ms Amy was in a win now? that why she fired M.Vrabel. he wasn't winning enough games even with D.Henry.
And now we have a somewhat better o-line. Much better receiving core and they are throwing the ball to receiver behind the line of scrimmage and they are getting hit b4 they get going.
Jim I believe that the Titans fans have taken enough of this B.S this being a home game. Wow.
Jim the fans deserve better we are tired of the losing and tired of feeling like the butt of jokes with us having to put up with this kid screwing up a game for the rest of the team & fans 🤷
Sorry Jim for ranting but I want a winning team. And I'm sure that the rest of the team wants to win. T.Pollard looked like he wanted to win. Just didn't have any help and trying to get the receiving core going after half. Ooh crap Scott enough sorry Jim I get going and I lose track of what I am trying to say.
So I will leave it at this. When is enough. Enough???? 🤷
And another question if I may how is the event staff member doing after W.Levis was knocked into him ??? Praying for a good & speedy recovery 🙏
Jim. Thanks for everything you do for us fans and apologies for ranting on like that just want more for the team & fans.

Jim: Appreciate it, Scott. All good.

Joey Kocsis from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Question: Well 17 seems to be our unlucky number. It's funny, that was Tannehill's number. Some ghostly revenge maybe? Football Gods hard at work. The Miami game was a fluke. This is hard Jim. Have any Cyber Tissues to hand out? My question is, why in the world are the Titans afraid to play more aggressive? We all can see that it's really because they don't trust Will Levis to play aggressively. But what do we have to lose at this point? If they don't open Levis up then they will not know anything. If the ship is already going down, let's go down swinging and see if we are on fight or flight. It seems they are more concerned with barely squeezing a win rather than letting the boys play ball. Not unless the point is to move on. Levis looked more alive last year. Fat Bastard came and stole his mojo! Somebody send Ran back in time to get it back. Because this team can't get it up.
Thanks Jim!

Jim: Hey Joey. I hear ya. Don't necessarily agree the Miami game was a fluke. The Titans won that game convincingly, albeit by kicking a lot of field goals. As for why the team wasn't more aggressive, I think part of it on Sunday was Will's lingering shoulder injury, another part is he needs to regain the trust of the coaching staff after a lot of mistakes, and another part of it is because the offensive line hasn't proven it can be trusted to protect him on a bunch of drop-backs. Everyone wants him to drop back and sling it all over the place, but how much do they like it when he's sacked 6 or 7 times? The reality is that gameplan on Sunday could've produced a win, but the team did just enough to lose.

Beau Siddens from Covington, Indiana
Question: Hi Jim. I live in Colts country and it's hard being a Titans fan as it is, but when we lose to them...rough days are in my future 😀
Callahan and Carthon built a really good team. The Defense has been solid and Dennard has "unleashed" the players. You can clearly see they play hard.
Callahan, the offense minded coach that he is supposed to be, has yet to attack. We heard all about the "weapons" he has surrounded Levis with, but we only get to see Pollard (who has been stellar). All the players did their job Sunday, I feel like the decision to let Levis play with an injury hurt the team. You could see it in his passes that he still needed more time to heal. Cally hurt his team by not utilizing his pass attack and utilizing his back up QB to win.
I believe Levis is a great QB and agree to stick with him. Cally said "He is our QB, as long as he is healthy". He wasn't. So are the coaches trying to win, or are they sticking to "a plan"? From a fan standpoint, I believe Dennard is playing to win and Cally is trying not to lose.
I would be less disappointed in losses, if we were giving it all we got. We have a souped up V8 and driving it like we have a V6.

Jim: I hear ya. I hope Colts fans aren't giving you a hard time. They shouldn't be bragging too much, because I sure wasn't impressed with them either. Losing to a mediocre team like that is what makes things even more frustrating.

Sean Kelley from Smyrna, Delaware
Question: Hi Jim. Maybe I am going to retire the Levis Meter… it's too depressing.
For sure its a -1 which I think puts him at -3.5 (trying to get to +8)
I have not read one single article or interview about the game, I don't need to.
Levis should not have played. It was clear that his shoulder or shot or both affected his game.
He couldn't throw accurately or to his WR. So we finally get the best WR room in Franchise history to use as decoys?
I think it's time to let MR run the offense and have WL learn. Don't want to hear coach speak about game reps are what WL needs. Of course he does… so mix him in to the game, get creative. But let
him learn from MR play. I mean face it we should be 3-2 or 4-1, would of could of, should of, but I don't
any NFL fan would disagree with that statement.
The fan base is outraged because we see we have a good team. We just don't know how to Win, yet.
After losing 7 straight with a win and in, then following up with 6 wins… the fans were reeling.
Amy and RAN did their jobs….. now the coaches need to get results.
I give the Coaching and Training Staff a ZERO POINT ZERO for yesterday. They should not have played WL.
This loss is on them. I am a huge WL fan, I think he will be great. But he's a 2nd round pick on a rookie deal.
what is the rush, when you have a vet with some winning experience.
I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't Alumni Day and we were just honoring Jeff Fisher and Mike Vrabel
with a text book way to coach yourself into a loss with conservative game plan. Welcome to the Franchise Cally.
Cally should bring Fisher in to make the defense run their penalty yard wind sprints.

Jim: Hang in there, Sean.

Joe Arcudi from Merrimack, New Hampshire
Question: Hey Jim. Hope you are well. I know it must be tough to follow this team every day. There is so much to talk about and I have been left overloaded with what I want to say. I realize a lot of folks want to say this team is rebuilding...new coach.. new staff, ETC. However the active offseason certainly had us all thinking about a shot at a solid season. With that said.... I am racking my brain thinking about our offensive offense. In my 45+ years of being a fan of this franchise I have certainly seen it all (well everything but a championship..ugh). I can't figure out if the problem on O is the suspect play calling, the below average QB play, the o-line issues/penalties.....But then I sat back and took a look at what Cally "wants" to be on O. Levis being gun shy seems to be part of the issue. He just looks like he is pressing and more importantly not having any fun playing ball. He feels the weight of being "the guy" and I think he is trying to change who he is for this offense. I know it is much more than taking a deep breath, but I am ultimately concerned he will not be able to adjust his game to match this offense. I think he could be a very good NFL QB in the right system, but I am not sure he can change who he is enough to match Cally's offense. He can't do what Joe Burrow can (not many can), but this offensive scheme matches Joe's game not Will's. He seems to have too much Favre in him.... River boat gambler with high risk and high reward. I truly hope I am wrong, but 5 games is a decent sample size (including the off-week). I was waiting until this game after a lay off to see if we would produce a better offensive output......just did not happen.
By the way I do think Cally is struggling with play calling. He seems to be looking for what Will "can" do and not using the whole playbook. It is tough to watch other teams throw deep and get DPI's, but we don't seem to take many shots with the talented WR's we have. I heard Cally say he called some shots -- Will either did not pull the trigger or could not (Shoulder was probably a reason as well).
Sorry for the long rant Jim. We are all looking for anwers and with a tougher schedule coming I just hope Cally turns the offense loose to see what we have. Quite obvious we are not going to be a playoff team....so lets truly see what we have.

Jim: Thanks for weighing in, Joe.

David Johnson from McKenzie, Tennessee
Question: I'm usually the very last person to want to criticize coaches, because it's up to the players to execute a plan, BUT it seems to me Callahan is a poor play caller. He says it's up to him to put the ball in play makers' hands, but that has yet to happen consistently. No one can deny he's been calling a "conservative" game. If that's because he doesn't trust Levis not to make a mistake or that he doesn't believe he's able to execute a more dynamic offense, then it's time for the organization to be honest about that and turn the keys over to our backup quarterback. I don't think I've ever seen a special teams perform as poorly as the Titans this year. That's got to be on the ST coach. It's definitely time to move on from him.
Thanks for letting me complain.

Jim: Thanks for taking the time, David.

John Deane from Wellingborough, United Kingdom
Question: Hi Jim. A few personal observations not sure if you've had this before but this version of Will Levis appears to have all his juice squeezed out of him and he seems a pale shadow of the fella who dissected the Falcons. The passing game seems the same as last years. TP is doing a fairly decent job though they are big boots to fill. The defence are or were before yesterdays game No 1 in most categories so give them their dues. This could become 1 and 6 unless the passing issue gets sorted.

Jim: With these two games coming up, and this is just me, John, I'd take a split.

John Clark from Norfolk, Virginia
Question: Hey Jim. What can I say about this team & organization that hasn't been said in the last 10 plus years. September 2024 I turned 48 years old and this organization has really made me realize that anyone 40 and up and a fan of this team will never see these bums go to the Superbowl. This organization is the complete disgrace we're the superbowl of the toilet bowl. Pure pathetic and embarrassing. To Derrick Henry agent THANK YOU FOR GETTING HIM OUT OF TENNESSEE so his legacy isn't tarnished. This off season tell Amy and Ran u said let me get some of that money since they love to give it away on busted players. The whole organization is pure dumpster juice.

Jim: Always good to hear from you, John.

Josh Harper from Billings, Montana
Question: Hey Jim. No question, just some honest observations that probably every Titans fan is thinking. Brian Callahan play calling? Really man? Let's be honest, that was garbage. Ultra conservative all game until it was too late. Do you not have quick pass plays in front of the LOS? Run game is important, maybe you shouldn't run the ball 3 times in a row, and then punt, Downing can do that. If that's your offense, you should have kept Henry. Oh by the way, he has 700+ yards in 6 games. Dhop and Tboyd seem automatic for a 10 and under pass. Guess you forgot you had them on the roster.
Ridley? What's the deal man? Sneed? Should have given up 3 td's if receivers could catch, huge penalty because he got burnt.
Defensive penalties = over 100 yards I believe.
Special Team play is rough.
This is the product you put on the field after a bye? Wow.
Thanks for everything Jim

Jim: It was a rough one for sure, Josh.

Brock Martin from Calgary, Alberta
Question: Just curious why you expect fans who have spent thousands of dollars on tickets to be so patient.
How would you enjoy going to a doctor or dentist and hearing that we are going to see if this person
can get the job done for a couple years let's all cross our fingers and Hope for the best. Your
Appendix almost got removed but your doctor fumbled his tools better luck next time. Fans want
results any pay dearly for them. Having a mentor to train your junior players may be a better process.

Jim: Interesting analogy, Brock.

Question: I know with 7 of our divisional games left, we aren't technically out of it, but 1-5 teams don't turn it around and make the playoffs in the NFL. These games have been painful to watch. We could share blame with poor kick coverages or penalties or whatever; but the truth is that Will Levis has sucked badly through 6 games. If we had even league average QB play this team is 3-2 or 4-1. He panics when things get messy and could have easily had another 3 turnover game if the Colts defense could catch.
Might as well see if through for a while, but it's a shame to have the best Titans skill players since I can remember and not get the ball to them except for the backfield (which has been good). I mean, the best receptions all game were a busted coverage to NWI and a good play to Burks. For Ridley, Hopkins, and Boyd to be non-existent against a bad defense is a failure of both Levis and Callahan. My question: Do you think there is a point at which we see if Rudolph could be the guy or if Levis doesn't work are we likely looking elsewhere?

Jim: I'm sure there's a point, Chris, if you're in fact talking about this season, but I can't say when. I just don't know. What happens in 2025 and beyond is still TBD.

Clint Phillips from Fletcher, North Carolina
Question: Titans have a hard time winning any game, but when having to play the refs too it's impossible!
Haven't had a Levis-led team to get over 17 points on the board yet. Haven't had a Levis led team without throwing an interception. With all the talent at receiver you would think they could be more exciting and score some points. Offense looks like a Downing led unit. On the plus side, the new Levis/ Hellman's commercial is really good!😃👍

Jim: I hear ya, Clint.

Chris Foltz from Harrisburg, North Carolina
Question: Hey Jim. Thanks for all you do. I think it's time to turn the page on Levis. He obviously wasn't healthy this last game since he couldn't attempt any deep balls. The defense is playing lights out keeping their team in every game, but poor QB play is the Achilles heel of this team. Sorry, I know you have been defending him but the season has slipped away and time to look forward to a QB in the draft.

Jim: Hey Chris. It's not my job to "defend him." I've tried to explain why he's playing, and why he's going to continue to play for the time being. It's obvious Will needs to play better. I know it, you know it, Will knows it, the coaches know it, the entire fan base knows it. It's also obvious he's not the only problem on this football team.

Joey Kocsis from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Question: What up Jim? So I understand this is a work in progress. However this is painful my friend. I know they want to roll with Levis, but I don't see how this will end up working. Levis gave us something to look forward to this season. This has been way underwhelming. How long will they keep this up? I mean we do have to keep people in the stadium, but it's going to wear thin week by week. They played way to conservative way to early. And the o line actually did ok besides the penalties. It's a definite SMH moment. 2025 is a long way from now. The people are giving up. It sucks. Anyway, have a great week my friend.

Jim: Good to hear from you, Joey.

Michael Miles Sr. from LaVergne, Tennessee
Question: Hi Jim. I just don't understand why. Why we can't get over the hump of getting beat. Why we can't stay ahead of the opponent we are playing week after week. I have been to MANY games at our house and only drank three maybe four beers there in the full time they have been in Nashville. If I am watching on tv at my house it is the same, maybe four beers total. Yesterday if I could have had a case I would have drank it all so I would not remember how bad we played against the Colts. Four (4) PI's so many dropped or over thrown balls.. . A QB leading the NFL in turnovers.. a secondary playing a half a mile of the line giving way to many passes. A o line still needing to get better, even though Sunday was better and Levi's was not sacked we still got to find some players to play the full game without so many penalties. Can we bring back the 90's and have a team that is fun to watch win? A team that can score more than 17 points against a team like the Colts. I am and always will be a Titan fan but please turn it around.

Jim: Sorry to hear these Titans are making you want to drink, Michael.

Patrick Sweeney from Roselle Park, New Jersey
Question: That's what we get coming out of a bye week against the worst defense in the league…See ya next year Jim. God willing.

Jim: Have a good one, Patrick.

Steve Glenn from Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Question: Not so much of a question, Jim. So, with Levis this year we're a whopping 0-4. Five times since 2020 we have had a QB throw for less than 100 yards. Shockingly, Levis accounts for 3 of those games. 7, SEVEN int's so far this year and only 5 TD's.. Yes, Rudolph also threw for under 100. But heck, we're 1-0 with him behind center and no turnovers. Levis is not the future. I mean he has what, 12 games under his belt? He has 3 wins under him and one of those was against Carolina last year. All of these weapons and not much to show for it so far this year. Penalties got the best of us today as well as a few questionable no calls. I firmly believe if Rudolph was behind center, we'd probably be 4-1. Time to see what he is made of. As I've said before, I'm not truly against Levis. He just isn't a NFL caliber QB. Remember when 31 other teams passed on him in the draft? I now see why.

Jim: Technically, Levis gets credit for the Dolphins win since he started, and the team won the game... At least that's how it will show up on Pro Football Reference.

Landon G from Toledo, Ohio
Question: LOL. What an offense. Really appreciate the play calling and execution. It's what us fans deserve.
They say they want to see if Levis is the guy. Then all they do is dunk and dunk. Then they let him air it out? Intercepted. You asked me if I'd rather have everyone benched. Would our record be any worse? Maybe we have 0 wins instead of 1? lol. The Titans are an absolute joke and embarrassment. The future is bright!

Jim: Holy Toledo!

Jason Knight from Cleveland, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim hope is all is well with you. I suppose it going to be another week of listening to upset and irate fans. I've just got a few comments, maybe a question we will see. I think the team looks worse than it did, we look less disciplined and Levis is to scared to throw now. I really didnt watch the game cause it is to hard to watch. I think we are hurting the team and Levis more by leaving him in at quarterback this year he looks shook I think he has been under so much pressure and sacked so much, not to mention all the hate in the media. I think the team would be better off letting Rudolph play and let Levis watch and learn and wait till we have a line that can protect. I don't know of many quarterbacks that would not have a hard time behind this line. I know teammates are gonna say different but I believe they are loosing faith in him. Rudolph looked more comfortable in the pocket, but I believe even in that win it was more who the dolphins didnt have playing. Also I don't think you can evaluate Levis really with the offense we have. Its not fair to Levis, the team nor us fans. It reminds me of David Carr and the Texans. GOD Bless you and your family Jim. I hope this week is not to bad but im sure you used to it which sucks.

Jim: Good to hear from you, Jason.

Have a great week everyone!
