Alf Ritter from Munich, Germany
Question: Hi Jim. Thank you for keeping us informed during the offseason!
As the Detroit Lions will play in Munich in the upcoming season I hope that the stars will align and we can welcome the Titans as their opponent to our beautiful city!
(Next step: Getting tickets will be like winning a lottery due to the usual high demand)
It would be an enticing matchup given that our offense and defense will hopefully improve.
I read an article which ranked the first-round QBs drafted over the last couple of years with Cam Ward being listed as number 15 - and Mendoza a couple of spots higher even though he hasn't taken a single NFL snap yet.
I think that we have a promising offensive core after last year's draft and of course: It will matter what they write about you after ten years in the NFL and not after year one! So, please, develop, improve, and make us proud!
Speaking of improvement and pride, here comes my question: The previous coaching staffs (from Whisenhunt to the Callahans) were all reasons for me to be optimistic. Why will it work this time and what is the main factor? Experience?
Jim: I'd love to play a game in Munich, Alf! Keep your fingers crossed.
What a silly article, ranking Mendoza over Cam at this point. What a waste of time. It's way to early to judge Cam, and certainly ridiculous to project a guy who hasn't played a snap. If you're looking for a reason to be optimistic about this coaching staff, then lean toward the experience under Saleh, with Brian Daboll and Gus Bradley as the coordinators. The Titans have three former head coaches on the staff. One of the biggest problems for Callahan out of the gate was a lack of experience on his staff, with three first-time coordinators.
Kevin Jaymay from Nashville, Tennessee
Question: I made some observations and looking for comments. Thanks for all that you do. Love your insights It's been eye opening watching the combine. I'm intrigued with the 6'5 3/4"-245 pounds QB from Arkansas..he ran. 4.37 forty time.. Could he be considered a boundary receiver ala Megatron or Evans in Tampa? As a QB he should recognize zone or man coverage. He's comped at Josh Allen, who Daboll turned into a very good QB..That's a mismatch regardless of who's covering him. That straight line speed at his size would be hard to stop. Plus Borgonzi can prove out to be a genius. The WR group is deep as are the DBs, the position group is the fastest ever in combine history on average. As is the DB group. CB is deep to replace McCreary and Brownlee..the Utah OL has 2 OTs that could be starters on day 2 of your looking to replace moore, and the OGs are agile and fast. The Ohio State safety is big and fast too running in the low 4.36s. in a week free agent frenzy starts. Let's finally get better around the QB.. sorry for the length of this post
Jim: It looks like you paid very close attention to the combine, Kevin. Some intriguing prospects for sure. I don't think I'm ready to endorse Taylen Green, the Arkansas QB you're referring to, especially at a different position. I think he's going to be given every chance as a QB. I'm with you on the WRs and CBs. Can definitely start to restock in the draft, although look for free agency to help matters, too.
Joel Meadows from Oakland, Tennessee
Question: Hi, Jim. A couple of years ago, there was a lot of talk of bringing Tee Higgins to the Titans. However, Cincinnati franchise tagged him. Do you think the current Titans' staff would be interested in trading for Higgins? Two years or so years ago, he expressed interest in returning to Tennessee since he's a former Vol. I think obtaining him would be a big help to the WR group. Thanks for addressing this question
Jim: Hey Joel. Not expecting this to be honest. Higgins went to Clemson, by the way. He is from East Tennessee – Oak Ridge, to be exact.
Eric Biederman from Franklin, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim! Lots of draft rumors swirling lately, including us even taking Love at 4. But I'm asking about a different prospect. How much does Reuben Bain's arm length actually impact his draft stock? The dude is undeniably a beast at the college level, but he also has historically short arms for a DE and is not big enough to play DT. Should the Titans take him at 4? Cheers!
Jim: Hey Eric. You're going to see a lot more rumors in the coming weeks. I love Jeremiyah Love myself. Bain is a beast, I don't care what his arm length is. I'm not ready to make a pick at 4 yet, though.
Jason Veseley from Mosinee, Wisconsin
Question: Did the Titans get to see Arvell Reese at the combine? I think that if he came off the board at #4, where they pick that gives them the edge rusher to pair with Jeffery Simmons. Reese, this pick has potential to be a home run for the Titans, because his skillset is a need fit and could be a superstar on defense. Did the Titans get to see Carnell Tate? he could be a #1 receiver and that's what Cam Ward needs. Or Jeremiah Love, that running back from Notre Dame..the bellcow in the backfield. the Titans can no doubt get the run game going with him haven't had that runner since Derrick Henry. Pollard was nothing more than a #2 runner in a 1-2 punch running game.
Jim: Hey Jason. Yes, the Titans saw Arvell Reese – the team talked to him, along with all the top edge prospects. You can be sure the team will visit with all the top players in this year's draft at some point in the process.
Jason Petty from Lebanon, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim, I hope you've had some downtime to catch your breath and put your feet up for a moment while covering the combine for us. I've read articles saying Jermaine Johnson II had his "best" production/seasons under Salah's time with the Jets. And also that Johnson II is just as, or even more so injury prone than T'Vondre is/was. Articles also state the trade grade was an "A" for getting Sweat, and "C" at best for the Titans receiving Johnson II. Now I admit I've never really watched Jermaine, so with that said I am trying not to see this as a negative move for the Titans, and I know we need help on the Edge position. I also know Salah"s 3-4 "eliminates" Sweats nosetackle position, but they switch Offensive linemen to different positions all the time. Anyhow, do you see this as a sign the Titans are leaning more towards drafting someone other than Bain Jr., Bailey, or Reese at #4, or is it just a depth piece type move? Just wanting your thought on the reason for the move, because I know you can't think or speak on what or why Borgonzi &/or Salah (front office) personnel were thinking/ doing. Thanks for all your work my friend, we truly appreciate it and you. Even though sometimes you get the brunt of our confusion/anger. Have a Great week. And as always #TitanUp
Jim: Hey Jason. It's been a busy offseason, no time to relax. The end of June, start of July is my best window for that. I'm not going to disparage Sweat in here, because I like him. But I overheard some Jets media talking about Sweat like Warren Sapp was headed to the Big Apple. T'Vondre has a lot to prove, just like Jermaine Johnson will in Tennessee once that trade become official. Time will tell how these trades pan out. Giving out a grade now is about as silly as grading a draft the day after. As for how the trade impacts this year's draft, I still think everything is still in play.
Gregory Stauffer from Charlotte, North Carolina
Question: Hey Jim, glad to see you are on the mend from the flu! Long time reader and sometime contributor! Just read where Justin Melo said the Titans should look at or pursue Rico Dowdle, the Charlotte Panthers, being from Charlotte I have got to see him regularly! The dude is a beast! He runs over people, get great yards after contact, and give him an inch of open space and his is hard to catch. I am going to guess he will not cost a fortune! He would be a great addition to our Titans! Titan Up!
Jim: Hi Greg. Rico Dowdle is coming off a really good year with the Panthers. Justin Melo knows his stuff. ... But what if the team loves Jeremiyah Love?
Hector Hernandez Rojas from Teziutlan, Puebla, Mexico
TITANS UP!!!!
Jack Walker from Calabasas, California
Question: Hey Jim, it was fun watching the combine but I'm not budging off my opinion that the Titans should trade out of the #4... At this point, frankly I'd rather have a lower R1 pick, an extra R2 and R3 plus a 2027 R1 than the #4. We have too many needs to draft a WR1, EDGE or RB at #4. BTW, I hope Levis is traded to the Rams to see if McVay can work magic on him.
Jim: Hey Jack. I know some others who like this line of thinking, too.
Lucas B from Hoosick Falls, New York
Question: Hey Jim. To me it's pretty evident that great defenses take average offenses quite a bit further into today's NFL. A loaded defense is my pick. I think it's very realistic that both Bain and Bailey could be gone by pick 4. In this scenario who do you like at 4? My opinion would be Reese. If they go offense then obviously Love. Reese at 4 and Gabe Jacas in RD 2! Look into Jacas, I'm also bias that he was a 2X State champion in wrestling as well.
Jim: Thanks for chiming in, Lucas.
Jamont Young from Fort Wayne, Indiana
Question: Please can you let the Tennessee Titans organization whoever it may concern like me is that at pick number four Tennessee Titans should and I hope will pick Jeremiah Love out of Notre Dame you have generational talent and you won't find another running back like him but you will find another Reuben Bain and Reese and Bailey again long story short Jeremiah Love best running back in 2026 let's go titanUp!!!!
Jim: Hey Jamont. I'll let the fellas know!
Have a great week everyone!
