Titans-Vikings Preseason Week 3 Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES

  • The Titans' 23-13 victory against the Vikings gave the Titans a six-game winning streak in preseason contests at Nissan Stadium.
  • The Titans finished the 2025 preseason with a 2-1 record.
  • The victory improved Brian Callahan's career record to 5-1 in preseason games.
  • The team captains for the game were linebacker Cody Barton, offensive lineman Peter Skoronski and kicker Joey Slye.
  • Twelve of the 90 players on the roster did not play due to injury or coach's decision.
  • The starters on offense were quarterback Cam Ward; running back Julius Chestnut; tight ends Chig Okonkwo and Gunnar Helm; wide receivers Elic Ayomanor and Van Jefferson; left tackle Dan Moore Jr.; left guard Peter Skoronski; center Corey Levin; right guard Blake Hance; and right tackle Olisaemeka Udoh. Three rookies started on offense: Ward, Helm and Ayomanor.
  • The starters on defense were defensive linemen Jeffery Simmons and Sebastian Joseph-Day; outside linebackers Arden Key and Dre'Mont Jones; inside linebackers Cody Barton and Cedric Gray; safeties Amani Hooker and Xavier Restrepo; and cornerbacks Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Darrell Baker Jr. and Roger McCreary.
  • Eight of the Titans' nine draft picks played in each preseason game, with the lone exception being safety Kevin Winston Jr., who did not play during the preseason.
  • The Titans totaled more total net yards (325 to 317) and more rushing yards (137 to 100) than the Vikings.
  • The offense had consecutive touchdown drives in the first half, going 90 and 85 yards, respectively. It was the Titans' first preseason game with two touchdown drives of 85-plus yards since Aug. 8, 2019 at Philadelphia.
  • Wide receiver Van Jefferson's 65-yard reception for a touchdown in the second quarter marked the Titans' longest touchdown reception in a preseason game since Roydell Williams caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from Billy Volek against Tampa Bay on August 12, 2005. It was the Titans' longest preseason play from scrimmage since Demarco Murray scored on a 71-yard run against the Chargers on August 13, 2016.
  • The Titans had 12 players start all three preseason games: cornerback Darrell Baker Jr., linebacker Cody Barton, cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr., safety Amani Hooker, wide receiver Van Jefferson, outside linebacker Dre'Mont Jones, center Corey Levin, left tackle Dan Moore Jr., tight end Chig Okonkwo, left guard Peter Skoronski, quarterback Cam Ward and safety Xavier Woods.

QB BRANDON ALLEN

  • Entered the game at quarterback in the second quarter and ended the night going nine-for-15 for 137 yards and a score.
  • Completed a 65-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson in the second quarter to give the Titans a 14-3 lead.
  • The 65-yard connection was the longest preseason completion for the Titans since Roydell Williams caught a 76-yard touchdown pass from Billy Volek against Tampa Bay on August 12, 2005.
  • Finished the preseason with a team-leading 318 passing yards on 26-of-41 passing (63.4 percent).
  • At the time of his 65-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson, it was the longest touchdown pass of the 2025 NFL preseason.

LB BRIAN ASAMOAH II

  • Finished third on the defense with four tackles and added a pass defensed.

WR ELIC AYOMANOR

  • Started his second consecutive preseason game as a rookie.
  • Recorded three receptions for 25 yards, including a 13-yard catch from Cam Ward resulting in a first down.
  • Finished second on the team with 72 receiving yards on five receptions during the 2025 preseason.
  • Ayomanor and Ward connected for three completions for 54 yards during their first preseason as rookies.
  • At the conclusion of the game, his 72 receiving yards during the preseason ranked fourth among AFC rookies in 2025.

S MIKE BROWN

  • Tied for the team lead with five tackles.

CB JARVIS BROWNLEE JR.

  • Registered his third consecutive start of the preseason and totaled three tackles.

RB JULIUS CHESTNUT

  • Started at running back for the second consecutive preseason game.
  • On the team's second offensive drive, contributed four carries for 24 yards, including a one-yard rush for a score.
  • Helped convert a fourth-and-one with a 16-yard run that included a hurdle of a Vikings defender.
  • Scored the team's first points of the contest on his first touchdown of the preseason.
  • Also recorded a reception from Cam Ward for five yards.
  • Finished the 2025 preseason ranked third on the team with 12 rushes for 62 yards and a touchdown.

WR CHIMERE DIKE

  • Contributed a 36-yard kickoff return to begin the second half. The return marked the longest return by the Titans this preseason, topping Dike's own 32-yard kickoff return at Tampa Bay on August 9.
  • Also saw time on offense at wide receiver, recording his first catch of the preseason for one yard.
  • Finished the preseason with a team-high four kickoff returns for 111 return yards.

LB CEDRIC GRAY

  • Started for the second consecutive week.
  • Tied for the team lead with five tackles.
  • Led the Titans defense with 19 tackles during the preseason.
  • Led the team or tied for the team lead in tackles in all three preseason games.

OLB JAYLEN HARRELL

  • Totaled two tackles, including a sack.
  • Dropped Brett Rypien for a six-yard sack in the fourth quarter.

CB MARCUS HARRIS

  • Totaled two tackles and added a pass defensed.
  • Finished second on the Titans during the preseason with three passes defensed.

P JOHNNY HEKKER

  • Averaged 52.0 gross yards and 51.0 net yards on three punts with one punt placed inside the 20.
  • In three preseason games, he averaged 47.7 gross yards and 44.0 net yards on 13 punts with two punts placed inside the 20.

RB JERMAR JEFFERSON

  • Entered the game at running back in the third quarter.
  • Led the team with 41 rushing yards on five carries.
  • Notched a 29-yard run and an 11-yard reception from Trevor Siemian during a fourth quarter drive that led to a Joey Slye field goal. The 29-yard run marked the longest run by a Titans player during the 2025 preseason.

WR VAN JEFFERSON

  • Started his third consecutive preseason game with the Titans.
  • Recorded three receptions for 102 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown reception from Brandon Allen in the second quarter. It marked Jefferson's longest preseason reception and the fourth reception of his career (preseason or regular season) of 65 yards or more.
  • Became the first 100-yard receiver for the Titans in a preseason game since Justin Hunter had 111 receiving yards at New Orleans on Aug. 15, 2014.
  • At the time of his 65-yard touchdown, it was the longest touchdown reception of the 2025 NFL preseason.
  • His 65-yarder was the longest preseason reception since Roydell Williams' 76-yard touchdown against Tampa Bay on Aug. 12, 2005.
  • Finished the 2025 preseason with a team-leading 102 receiving yards.

DE SEBASTIAN JOSEPH-DAY

  • Started and posted three tackles.

CB CLARENCE LEWIS

  • Led the Titans defense during the preseason with four passes defensed, including one against the Vikings.

CB ROGER McCREARY

  • Helped stall a Minnesota drive with a pass defensed on a third-down play in the first quarter.

RB JORDAN MIMS

  • Recorded a team-high 13 carries for 40 yards and added a pair of receptions for 16 yards.
  • Led the Titans offense during the preseason with 28 carries and 98 rushing yards.
  • Also recorded 33 receiving yards on a team-high six receptions during the preseason.

RB KALEL MULLINGS

  • Recorded six carries for 27 yards.
  • On the team's second offensive drive, recorded five rush attempts for 28 yards.
  • Logged a 17-yard rush in the first quarter, the longest rush of his rookie preseason.
  • Added two special teams tackles in the first quarter.
  • Finished his rookie preseason with a team-leading 21 rush attempts and ranked second on the team with 85 rushing yards.
  • At the conclusion of the game, his preseason total of 85 rushing yards was the third-best number among drafted rookie running backs during the 2025 preseason.

WR BRYCE OLIVER

  • Recorded three receptions for 27 yards, ranking second on the team.
  • Finished the preseason with five receptions for 45 yards.

QB TREVOR SIEMIAN

  • Played in the second half and completed all four pass attempts for 34 yards.

DT JEFFERY SIMMONS

  • Started and recorded a tackle in his first preseason action since 2021.

K JOEY SLYE

  • Made all three field goals and both extra point attempts. His three field goals were from 63, 30 and 53 yards.
  • His 63-yarder in the third quarter was the longest field goal ever made in the preseason, regular season or postseason at Nissan Stadium, which opened in 1999. The previous long field goal at the venue was Rob Bironas' 60-yarder to defeat the Indianapolis Colts on Dec. 3, 2006.
  • His 63-yarder was the third-longest NFL field goal in the preseason since 2017.
  • The 63-yard field goal also marked the longest made attempt in the preseason for Slye's career, besting a 59-yarder against the Steelers on August 29, 2019.
  • During the 2025 preseason, he made all four field goal attempts and five of his six extra point attempts.

OL OLISAMEKA UDOH

  • Started at right tackle for the first time this preseason in place of JC Latham.

QB CAM WARD

  • Started his third consecutive preseason game and played in the team's first two offensive series.
  • Engineered a 13-play, 90-yard touchdown drive on the team's second offensive possession. On that drive, he completed a 17-yard throw to Van Jefferson and a 13-yarder to Elic Ayomanor. Both completions resulted in a new set of downs.
  • The touchdown drive led by Ward was the second scoring series he led during the preseason (Tampa Bay), and the Titans' longest preseason drive by plays, yards and time of possession (13 plays; 90 yards; eight minutes and 33 seconds).
  • His preseason totals included 10 completions on 19 pass attempts for 145 yards.
  • Ward was the only rookie quarterback during the 2025 NFL preseason to start three games.

LB JAMES WILLIAMS SR.

  • Intercepted a pass by Brett Rypien in the second quarter at the one-yard line to end a Vikings threat late in the first half. He added two tackles.
