Battle (6-foot-2, 240 pounds) has played six NFL seasons (64 career games) and totaled 1,026 yards and seven touchdowns on 285 carries. He spent five years in Kansas City and last season in San Diego.

Battle's most productive season came in 2011 for the Chiefs when he posted 597 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 15 games with four starts. He originally entered the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2007 from the University of Houston.

Cosby (6-3, 245) spent the past two seasons on practice squads for the St. Louis Rams, Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs. He originally joined the NFL in 2011 as an undrafted free agent from Central Missouri.

The Titans will open camp Thursday with five running backs (Chris Johnson, Shonn Greene, Darius Reynaud, Jalen Parmele and Battle) and two fullbacks (Quinn Johnson and Collin Mooney) and three quarterbacks (Jake Locker, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Rusty Smith).

Titans coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday that Delanie Walker, who also played collegiately at Central Missouri, will be placed on the physically unable to perform list while he recovers from a knee scope. The Titans also have tight ends Craig Stevens, Taylor Thompson, Brandon Barden, Martell Webb and Jack Doyle in training camp.
