NASHVILLE – Cam Ward is reenergized, and ready to roll.
The Titans rookie quarterback is hopeful lessons learned during the bye weekend, along with rest, will help him in the second half of the season, beginning on Sunday, when the team returns to action against the Houston Texans.
"Just took time, just getting back to the basics of football, getting my body healthy," Ward said on Wednesday. "And then just resetting my mind to go play another season.
"It was good just to self-scout myself and what I can do to help the team be better on offense. And, what I can do to help myself. It was a good break needed."
The Titans are 1-8 after nine games, with eight games remaining in the 2025 season.
Ward ranks first among rookie quarterbacks with 1,760 passing yards this season.
Ward has just five passing touchdowns on the season, however, which is the fewest by any quarterback with 120 passing attempts. As an offense, the Titans have struggled mightily on third down, and that needs to improve.
Ward was asked about the biggest area of improvement he saw after doing his self-scout during the bye.
"For myself, I thought the biggest thing I could improve on was just not missing easy plays, just being overly focused, even on the little things that I critique myself on," Ward said. "But then just as a whole, offensively, just doing the things that we're good at more, more throughout the game, more in practice, and then just leading to good offensive play."
Ward said the vibes are great coming out of the bye week.
Some good news for Ward and the Titans: Receiver Calvin Ridley returned to practice on Wednesday, and it looks like he could return this week, which would give a boost to the offense.
"It's high," he said. "We can turn the season around with one week. We try to take it one day at a time, one week at a time. We've got a good energy going, just in and out the locker room, the new guys that we got in, we welcomed them in with open arms, but them boys ready to work. The new additions we added, I think they're going to help us win some games."
