New Titans TE Daniel Bellinger Ready to do His Part in OC Brian Daboll's Offense

NASHVILLE – The Titans targeted tight end Daniel Bellinger when free agency opened up in March.

This fall, we'll find out how much the Titans plan to target Bellinger on Sundays, but the former Giant said he'll be ready for whatever comes him way in OC Brian Daboll's offense.

"I can't answer exactly what Dabes has planned," said Bellinger, who played under Daboll in New York. "But I know he's going to try and stretch the ball everywhere. He's going to try to be a dynamic playcaller like he's been, and I think we have a lot of talent and a lot of guys.

"For me personally, it's however they need me and however they want to use me, I'm ready for it."

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Bellinger was a fourth-round pick of the Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In four seasons in New York, Dellinger recorded 88 catches for 934 yards and four touchdowns in his first four NFL seasons while playing in 62 career games, with 42 starts.

Bellinger tallied 19 catches for 286 yards and two touchdowns last season in New York.

Bellinger hopes to take things to another level in Tennessee.

"I want to be more dynamic after the catch," he said. "I want to get better at that and continue to grow in that area. … (But) my job overall is to help us win. Whatever that takes, whatever they need me to do, I am here to do it."

During the course of his career, Bellinger said he's improved as a blocker, which he takes a lot of pride in.

In Tennessee, in addition to Daboll, his head coach with the Giants, he's been reunited with receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, cornerback Cor'Dale Flott and offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann, all former Giants who signed with Tennessee in free agency.

Bellinger said he likes the makeup of the team after working with in the offseason program. He was already friends with Titans tight end Gunnar Helm, as the two got to know each other at Tight End University, the annual three-day offseason summit founded in 2021 by NFL stars George Kittle, Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen.

"I think we have a lot of good guys, a lot of great teammates, a good culture that we're building," Bellinger said. "We use the term "dawg mentality" and I think we have a lot of guys that represent that.

"I love big Gunn. He represents that dawg I was talking about, and he is a dawg on the field. He's a guy we can rely on, and he can lean on me. I love big Gunn and thing he's going to do a lot of great things."

So, what will Bellinger bring to the team this fall?

Again, time will tell exactly what his role will be.

But Bellinger feels like he's equipped to help.

"Just somebody that (Daboll) can rely on, being a trustworthy guy that knows what to do," he said. "(I want to be) a guy (Daboll) can trust. He knows he can rely on me regardless of whatever he needs me to do, whether it's fullback, in-line, split out, whatever it is, I am here for it."
