Titans Make 12 Roster Moves Before Sunday's Game vs Bears

201107-punters

NASHVILLE — The Titans signed veteran punter Ryan Allen on Saturday while placing punter Brett Kern on Injured Reserve.

The move at punter, which came after Kern suffered a wrist injury last week at Cincinnati, was among a dozen roster moves made by the Titans leading up to Sunday's game against the Bears.

Yes, 12 moves, on the 53-man roster, the practice squad, and injured reserve.

Allen (6-2, 220) has 104 games of NFL experience with the New England Patriots (2013-18) and the Atlanta Falcons (2019). During his NFL career, he has totaled 437 punts for a 45.1-yard average, a 40.0-yard net average and 167 punts downed inside the 20. During his six seasons with New England, he became the team's franchise leader in career punting average (45.3). He also served as K Stephen Gostkowski's holder on place kicks. As a college player at Louisiana Tech, Allen earned the Ray Guy award, as the nation's best punter, twice (2011 and 2012).

So, what else transpired on Saturday?

Here you go:

-The Titans promoted four players from their practice squad to the team's 53-man roster: Receiver Cameron Batson, defensive back Breon Borders, running back D'Onta Foreman and defensive lineman Teair Tart.

-The Titans elevated outside linebacker Wyatt Ray and long snapper Matt Overton from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Both Ray and Overton will revert back to the practice squad on Monday as part of the NFL's COVID-19 rules.

-The Titans signed former University of Tennessee punter Trevor Daniel to the team's practice squad, while placing kicker Tucker McCann on the Practice Squad/Injured list. Daniel played 18 games for the Houston Texans over the 2018 and 2019 seasons, punting 85 times over 18 games for a 43.7-yard average and a 40.1-yard net average. A graduate of Dickson County High School, Daniel played for the University of Tennessee and entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent.

-The Titans placed cornerback Tye Smith on short term Injured Reserve, which means he'll be out at least three weeks.

-The Titans waived offensive lineman Daniel Munyer from the 53-man roster.

Also worth noting: Titans cornerback Adoree' Jackson has not been activated from the 'Designated for Return' list, so he's unavailable for Sunday's game. The Titans have until Wednesday to make a decision on Jackson's status.

Defensive back Desmond King, who joined the team via trade this week, has completed the NFL Covid protocols and officially joined the roster.

Kickoff for Sunday's game against the Bears is at noon at Nissan Stadium.
