NASHVILLE – T'Vondre Sweat focused on the little things this offseason, like they're big things.
His plan was to strengthen his shoulders, and improve his mobility by targeting his hips.
The Titans defensive lineman, whose weight was a topic of conversation this time last year, said he's also feeling lighter and quicker, although he wouldn't get into scale specifics.
"Ask coach Callahan," Sweat said with a smile.
As far as Sweat is concerned, this is all anybody needs to know:
"I feel great," Sweat said after Tuesday's OTA.
Heading into the 2025 season, Sweat said his goal is to be better than last year.
"I am very excited going into my second year," he said. "I feel a lot more comfortable playing this game, especially my second year in this league.
"I am ready, and it's going to be good, man."
A second-round draft pick by the Titans in the 2024 NFL Draft, Sweat played in all 17 games during his rookie season in 2024. He finished with 51 tackles, 23 quarterback pressures, and a sack. Sweat also had a memorable fumble recovery, stiff-arm and run late in the season, a year when he also tallied four tackles for a loss.
Callahan didn't divulge Sweat's size – he's listed at 6-foot-4, 366 pounds.
But he did rave about the big man's potential.
"He's a supremely talented person," Callahan said of Sweat. "There's not a lot of people on the planet that can do what he does at his size. And it's more about the consistency of performance. I'd like to see more from the pass rush game. He's got ability to rush for a man his size and that's a point of emphasis for him is affecting the quarterback more. He's a tremendous run defender, that was a strength of his already from last year. Part of it's going to be just improving the detail and then improving the ability to help affect the quarterback. So I think those are the things we're looking for progression wise from him. And he has the ability to be a full three-down player. He's not necessarily your explosive interior pass rushers that are out there. But he's got great ability to push the pocket too. So, looking for more of that from him and I think he had a solid start to his career, and I think there's a whole lot more meat on that bone for him."
Defensive line coach Tracy Rocker said he's pushing Sweat every day.
"What's improved is he walks out here, and he's seen the speed of the game before, it is not new to him," Rocker said of Sweat. "And, he has a better feel for his mates next to him.
"I have no doubts he wants to be good. … I want him to be the best player in the NFL, that is my goal for him. But he has to take the bull by the horns… He just has to keep working to make his imprint in this league."
Sweat said he's willing to put in the work, just as long as it doesn't include Pilates.
Sweat tried that this offseason, and he's not a fan.
Sweat said he is willing to work to be the best he can be.
"What I learned (last year) is take care of your body," he said. "Your body is everything, and if you don't feel good, you can't be performing at a high level."
