NASHVILLE – Xavier Restrepo doesn't think much about the numbers game when it comes to the talent around him at the receiver position, how many might make the 53-man roster, and if he'll be one of them.
"You can't think too much about that, right?," Restrepo said after a recent training camp practice. "When you think about numbers and all that other stuff, it will get to you."
Restrepo also doesn't obsess over his 40-time, because he's more focused on playing fast on the football field. But this offseason Restrepo worked on improving his body, his diet, and his football speed, and his 40-time improved as a result.
"I've definitely gotten faster," he said.
In his second NFL training camp with the Titans, the determined and resilient receiver is doing everything in his power to convince the decision makers he belongs, one practice at a time.
This much is certain: Restrepo will never stop trying, and he believes he belongs.
"I just have to be myself," he said. "I can't control the opportunities given to me. My mom tells me all the time, control the controllable. But I know at some point, an opportunity will present itself. So, I've just got to stay ready, so I don't have to get ready.
"I've played football since I was four years old, so I'm going on year 20 playing football. So, each and every single time I step on the field I am confident I am going to make something happen, whether the ball is in my hands or out of my hands. I know I can play in this league. I am super prepared and can't wait to compete."
Signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft, Restrepo spent most of his rookie season on the team's practice squad, although he did play in November games against the Seahawks and Jaguars.
Watching admittedly wasn't easy for Restrepo, who was incredibly productive in college, fishing his career as Miami's all-time leader in receptions (200), receiving yards (2,844) and touchdowns (20).
When last season ended, Restrepo had more time to focus on himself, especially compared to the previous offseason, when he trained for his Pro Day, and test times.
As a result of changing his diet, he's now in the low 190s, compared to the low 200s he played at in 2025.
Restrepo worked in south Florida with trainer John Battle, and he saw his 40 time improve – Restrepo was timed at 4.45 and 4.5 in the 40.
"Everybody on the field is fast," Restrepo said. "Last year I was still running with everyone, but I think it was good for my self confidence just to put that (time) on a clock and just see it. I definitely feel a lot faster."
Restrepo said he's also worked on his route running, and he's seeing results on the field. He's focused on the exit phase of his routes, something receivers coach Greg Lewis has preached, and that's put him in a position to play inside and outside. Restrepo always felt comfortable getting in a zone and sitting, but he's now more comfortable getting to the top of a route, breaking out, and running. He's more versatile because of it.
"Anywhere they need me," he said, "I'm ready to go."
In offseason workouts, Restrepo hauled in 26 passes in the seven open practices, six more than the next closest Titan. He's already caught 15 passes in the eight open training camp practices so far.
Restrepo said he's also made it clear he wants to learn special teams as well, because it will enhance his chances of sticking around.
At this point, Restrepo finds himself surrounded by a talented group of receivers, from Calvin Ridley to Wan'Dale Robinson to Elic Ayomanor to Chimere Dike to Carnell Tate, the team's fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Even behind those guys there's a group of veteran options who have played in the NFL. On the first unofficial depth chart of 2026, Restrepo isn't listed in the top six at the receiver position.
Restrepo again says he's focused on himself.
He remains confident, and he vowed to be ready.
"I think personally one mindset that I have carried my entire life is: Any field I step on, I feel I'm the best on the field," he said. "I look at it like that each and every time I step on the field. I am trying to take advantage of all my opportunities.
"I am feeling better than ever. Any opportunity that I've gotten I've taken advantage of it, and I'm just looking forward to taking advantage of more."
