NASHVILLE, Tenn. –** The Titans just wrapped up Day 2 of training camp.

Here's what you need to know …

**

What stood out**

• Receiver Corey Davis. But we'll get to him in a minute. Keep reading.

• Receiver Taywan Taylor is still making plays. He got open several times during practice to haul in passes from the team's quarterbacks. Taylor caught a dart from Marcus Mariota across the middle, and later he got open downfield and caught a deep ball.

• Linebacker Kevin Dodd is off to a nice start in camp. I noticed him on a few rushes today, and after practice Titans coach Mike Mularkey said Dodd was one of the defensive standouts on Day 1.

• Receiver Rishard Matthews made several nice grabs in one-on-one drills, including one when he went up high to make a catch on the sideline.

• Cornerback Demontre Hurst made a really nice read on a ball thrown by quarterback Matt Cassel, and picked off a pass.

• I still haven't seen Eric Decker drop a pass. Decker has looked smooth early on. He turned around cornerback LeShaun Sims on one play and caught the ball across the middle of the field.

• Tight end Delanie Walker is going to get more space because of the team's weapons at the receiver position, and I think it will result in more big plays. Walker caught a ball across the middle on Sunday, and outraced some younger, lighter guys down the field.

• Cornerback Adoree' Jackson made a nice play in one-on-one coverage when he knocked the ball away from Taylor near the goal line. Jackson stayed with Taylor stride for stride and made a nice play on the ball in flight.

• Sims continues to line up with the ones, and he made a nice play in one-on-ones while defending receiver Harry Douglas. Sims has been around the ball, and looked good for the most part. He did give up a deep ball to Taylor late in practice, however.

• Running back DeMarco Murray showed some burst on runs up the middle, as well as some nice footwork when bouncing runs to the outside.

• Linebacker Justin Staples went up high to knock down a pass.

• Defensive back Kalan Reed made a nice break-up late in practice on a ball intended for Taylor.

Story of the Day

Davis, the team's fifth overall pick, practiced on Sunday for the first time in training camp after reaching a deal with the team on Saturday.

Davis made plays throughout practice. He snatched balls out of the air, and looked explosive when he turned up the field to run.

"It felt good," Davis said after practice.

(A story on Davis will be posted shortly on Titans Online).

Play of Day

Mariota dropped back in the pocket, and didn't seen an open receiver.

So he decided to take off, and run. And he opened it up.

Mariota's sprint to the sideline wouldn't have gotten a lot of attention last year, but it was huge on Sunday. It was the first time he'd really opened things up and run with the ball during a practice since suffering a fractured fibula last December.

"When he took off running, I am just kind of sitting there watching him," offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie said. "I think there was a part of me saying, 'Oh, no, no, no, no don't run.' And then it was, "OK, great. … Go ahead, go.'

"You are always nervous with it. It looked pretty good. He can do it. He can take off and go and that's pretty good."

Mularkey said the 5- to 7-yard run was a great sight for the coaching staff.

He thinks Mariota probably cleared a mental hurdle as well.

"We want to make it as game-like as possible," Mularkey said. "(He) looked good running. I got to see it first-hand when you guys did. He's been running. He's been rolling out, and he's been running. But not in a situation like this, a team play."

Injury Watch

• Safety Johnathan Cyprien was limited in Saturday's practice because of a lingering ankle injury, but he was full-go on Sunday, when he lined up with the 1s.

• Receiver Tajae Sharpe did not practice for the second straight day. He was placed on the team's Physically Unable to Perform list at the start of camp because of the foot injury he suffered earlier in the offseason. Mularkey said the team plans to be patient with Sharpe, which means he could miss a bit.

Other notables

• Mularkey started off his press conference by offering condolences to Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and her family following the death of her son.

• An estimated crowd of 2,300 turned out for practice.

• Former Titans offensive lineman Zach Piller attended practice.

• The Titans will practice in full pads for the first time on Monday.

Next practice: Monday, 8:55 a.m. at Saint Thomas Sports Park.
