PHOENIX – The Titans are doing everything they can to be better around quarterback Cam Ward.
And that's why finding a way to keep receiver Calvin Ridley in the fold was an important part of the offseason plan.
New Titans head coach Robert Saleh has admired Ridley's game from afar, and now he's looking forward to coaching him.
"(Calvin) has the capability of doing whatever he wants in this league – he is a tremendous talent," Saleh said. "I know not everything has gone perfect, but when he is on the field, he is a problem. Any time you can add players, or keep players in this case, who can score from anywhere on the football field, I think that is important."
The Titans and Ridley agreed to reworked contract earlier this month.
Ridley's 2025 season was cut short because of a broken fibula and a high ankle sprain, which resulted in him playing in just seven games and catching 17 passes for 303 yards.
The year prior, Ridley caught 64 passes for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns while playing in all 17 games in his first year in Tennessee.
Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi said he liked the way Ridley took Ward under his wing after he was drafted a year ago, and he appreciated his leadership with the team's young receivers.
The team wanted Ridley back, Borgonzi said.
"I thought Calvin was great for Cam, and great in that room in general for the young guys, even for the offseason," Borgonzi said. "He's a veteran guy who has played the position at a high level in the league and I think he brings that part of it, too, for some of our young guys.
"And the thing about Rid is he works, and he still has his speed, Rid. We are excited about having Rid back for us this year."
Borgonzi said he likes where the team is at the receiver position with Ridley, free agent acquisition Wan'Dale Robinson and rising second-year receivers Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike, among others. The Titans also re-signed receiver Bryce Oliver earlier this month, and receivers Mason Kinsey, Xavier Restrepo and Hal Presley currently round out a group that includes eight players.
More will be added, with options remaining in free agency, and before and after the NFL Draft.
"I like where we're at," Borgonzi said of the position. "Obviously we had two rookie receivers last year (in Ayomanor and Dike) who got to play a lot, and I think the experience for them was invaluable. Going into their second season, I think they're going to take a jump as well. And Wan'Dale has been a proven player in the league, and having Rid back is a big part of it, too."
