NASHVILLE – The Titans have added a pair of veteran running backs to the team's practice squad, including veteran back Adrian Peterson.

The Titans have also added running back D'Onta Foreman to the team's practice squad.

On Monday, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel announced that running back Derrick Henry was scheduled for foot surgery on Tuesday, giving no timetable for his return.

There's more: The Titans have also signed defensive back Nate Brooks and defensive lineman Niles Scott to the team's practice squad.

Additionally, the team also released veteran linebacker Avery Williamson from the active roster, while waiving running back Mekhi Sargent, defensive lineman Caraun Reid, and defensive lineman Eli Ankou from the team's practice squad.

A future Hall of Famer, Peterson played in 16 games for the Detroit Lions, starting 10 games, in 2020. He rushed for 604 yards and seven touchdowns on 156 carries with the Lions, an average of 3.9 yards per carry.

Peterson, who's 36, has 14,820 total rushing yards in 14-year career, which is just 449 behind Barry Sanders for fourth-most all time.

A first-round pick of the Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma, Peterson has played with the Vikings (2007-2016), Saints (2017), Cardinals (2017), Redskins (2018-19) in his career, in addition to his one-year stint with the Lions in 2020.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Peterson was the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 2012 and he's led the NFL in rushing in three separate seasons (2008, 2012, 2015).

Foreman rejoins the Titans after spending the 2020 season with the team. A third-round draft pick of the Houston Texans in the 2017 NFL Draft, Foreman has spent time with the Texans (2017-19), Colts (2019), Titans (2020) and Falcons (2021) during his career.

Foreman has 421 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, along with nine catches for 116 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns. A 6-foot-1, 236-pounder, Foreman played in six games for the Titans in 2020, when he carried the ball 22 times for 95 yards.

The Titans also have running back Dontrell Hilliard on the team's practice squad, along with running backs Jeremy McNichols and fullback/running back Khari Blasingame on the active roster.

Brooks, who played at North Texas, has spent time with the Cardinals, Patriots, Dolphins, Ravens and Buccaneers. Brooks briefly spent time on Tennessee's practice squad back in August.

Scott, who played at Frostburg State, has spent time with the 49ers, Broncos, Bengals, Bills and Raiders in the NFL.

The Titans travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams on Sunday Night Football.
