Titans QB Cam Ward Looking to Finish Rookie Season On a High Note

Campads

NASHVILLE – Cam Ward's New Year's resolution is simple.

"Hopefully," the Titans quarterback said, "winning some more football games."

Ward will have one more chance to do so in his rookie season on Sunday when the Titans face the Jaguars in the season finale in Jacksonville.

It will put a cap on a year when Ward played every snap, and showed improvement along the way.

Ward believes that will benefit him moving forward.

"For sure," he said. "For everyone, both sides of the ball, myself individually and for the franchise. It's something that I don't take lightly because every time you step on the field you never know when it could be your last down. So, I'm blessed. ... It's God and my O-line that's keeping me healthy the entire way and I know they're going to keep on doing it.

"I think (the experience is) going to be a key reason why I think I'll end up where I will be. Just from seeing everything to playing with different people each and every week due to injuries. And I think just continuing to get me through my journey to being a high level quarterback and being a guy that can throw the ball a lot and win a lot of games."

In 16 games this season, Ward has thrown for a franchise rookie record 3,117 pass yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's been sacked 55 times, but that pace has slowed down significantly of late.

Ward's numbers of late have been impressive.

Ward has thrown two touchdown passes and zero interceptions in three straight games, and he has 10 touchdown passes and just one interception the last eight games. The Titans, meanwhile, have scored 24-plus points in each of their last four games after doing so just once in the team's first 13 games. The Titans are 2-2 in their last four contests after starting 1-11.

Ward said the season has gone by fast.

"For sure," Ward said. "Just because every week you learn something different, every week you play against different—whether it's a person or a specific scheme. And I think just each and every week you learn more about yourself and your teammates."

Ward said he'll always remember his rookie year, and the teammates he shared it with.

He hopes the group can go out with a win on Sunday.

"At the end of the day, this locker room is going to change in seven days," Ward said. "Everyone knows that. It's hard to keep everyone on the same team together. But we got to continue to cherish the days that we do have together and try to win one more game together."
