Titans OC Brian Daboll Shares His Thoughts on QBs Cam Ward, Mitchell Trubisky, Will Levis and Hendon Hooker

NASHVILLE – The Titans currently have four quarterbacks on the roster, all with some level of experience.

In offseason workouts, they've been on the field competing.

Seeing that makes offensive coordinator Brian Daboll pretty happy.

"As many quarterbacks as you can have is good right now," Daboll said. "It's been a good room up to this point."

In time, the Titans will sort out the pecking order behind starter Cam Ward, with veteran Mitchell Trubisky, Will Levis and Hendon Hooker in the mix.

Ward, the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, is the unquestioned starter, and he's made a good impression on Daboll right out of the gate.

"He is a young professional," Daboll said of Ward. "He wants to be great. He is instinctive. When we are just watching the tape, he is able to communicate the things that he sees and why he did certain things when we watch the tape from last year. When we are installing the new system to him, concepts and things like that, he is able to pick things up very quickly. It has been awesome to work with him."

Trubisky, a first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft of the Chicago Bears, was signed this offseason by the Titans, presumably as the primary back-up to Ward. But so far, the Titans haven't officially named him the No.2. In May, these declarations don't really need to happen, of course.

Trubisky has experience – he's 31-26 as a starter, with most of those starts coming in his first four years while in Chicago. Trubisky has also spent time with the Bills and Steelers, where he started five games and played in 12 in 2022-23.

In nine NFL seasons, Trubisky has thrown for 13,028 yards and 78 touchdowns with 48 interceptions and a passer rating of 86.9.

"It has been helpful to have Mitch here," Daboll said. "He had a foundation of some of the things that we've done and he's played a long time and he has been through a lot in his career, being a high draft pick and going to different teams. He's had some ups, he's had some downs. I think that is good for all the young quarterbacks, to hear his story and how he approached it."

As for Levis and Hooker, Daboll had some positive things to say about them as well.

A second-round pick of the Titans in the 2023 NFL Draft, Levis started 21 games in his first two seasons before being sidelined last season after shoulder surgery.

"Will has been really good for us," Daboll said. "He has picked up the system well. He is a big, strong, athletic guy who has played some in the league. He kind of gets a fresh start here with us."

Hooker, a third-round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft, is competing as well after being added last month.

Hooker most recently spent time with the New York Jets. In his NFL career, with the Lions, Panthers and Jets, Hooker has played in three games and completed 6-of-9 passes for 62 yards. Hooker spent time on the practice squads with the Panthers and Jets after being waived by the Lions in August 2025.

"Hendon had a good workout for us," Daboll said. "Obviously, a productive player at Tennessee. So it's been good."
