Ten Observations From Titans Training Camp on Saturday

NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Saturday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center.

Here's a look at 10 observations from Day 3 of training camp:

-Quarterback Cam Ward was efficient, even if the day lacked a bunch of big highlights from the offense. I had Ward 16-of-26 on the day, including 13-of-21 in the team periods. At one point later in practice, Ward completed seven passes in a row as the offense got into more of a rhythm. One of Ward's best passes was a bullet across the middle to tight end Gunnar Helm, but he also threw a nice dart across the middle to Wan'Dale Robinson. The biggest highlight of the day is coming up…

-Fans were present at training camp for the first time in 2026, and 1,300 tickets were distributed. I saw a lot of familiar faces, even though I technically didn't see Scoob's logo-covered face. I hate I didn't stop to see the art of James Hughes, whose Termi-Tate-R work was on display (see below). Of course Preston Penn was there. It was fun seeing rookie Pat Coogan hype of the crowd when the offensive linemen worked in front of the grandstand with the "All Gas, No Brake" sign. No, the s isn't missing – Brake without the s was the slogan Robert Saleh adopted as head coach of the Jets.

-It was Elic Ayomanor who had the catch of the day when he made a slick sideline grab on a ball thrown by Ward. Ayomanor went up high to get it, and he continues to impress onlookers with the strength of his hands and his seemingly more rugged approach in Year 2, even without the pads on. I had Ayomanor with four catches on Saturday, and I have him with nine through the first three practices of camp.

-Safety Tony Adams made the best play of the day on defense, breaking up a Will Levis-to-Joel Wilson pass at the goalline on the final play of practice. It ended the offense's drive in the two-minute period. Jalen McMurray, Alontae Taylor and Mohamoud Diabate all had pass break-ups, and defensive end Keldric Faulk knocked down a pass at the line of scrimmage.

-Receiver Calvin Ridley was a full-go at practice for the first time in camp, and he looked shifty on his one catch and spin more in the team period. Ridley said he lost 15 pounds at the start of camp with a stomach bug, but said he's put the weight back on. Ridley called it a "24-hour thing" that put him down after a trip to Chipotle. "Sorry Chipotle, I like y'all," Ridley said with a smile. "But by the time the night hit, it was coming from everywhere. I was throwing up until everything was gone."

-Quarterback Mitch Trubisky was 16-of-21 on the day, and quarterback Will Levis was 11-of-17. Quarterback Hendon Hooker got some work in the first practice of camp on Wednesday, but he hasn't thrown a pass in 7-on-7 or team periods since.

-Running back Tyjae Spears continues to be very productive in these practices. Spears had a practice-high six catches on Saturday, giving him 12 through the first three practices of camp. No Titan has more. At the running back spot, Nick Singleton was busy, and Michael Carter got running backs coach Randy Jordan excited with a nice cut.

-Behind the six catches from Spears, I had Xavier Restrepo and Ayomanor with four catches each and Wan'Dale Robinson, Nick Singleton, Gunnar Helm and Lance McCutcheon with three catches each.

-Tight end Jaren Kanak has been more active the past two sessions, and the guy looks like an athlete. Kanak had three catches in the final period of practice session No.2 on Thursday, and he caught two more balls on Saturday. The Titans are deep at the tight end position, and it's going to be a challenge for Kanak position himself above the vets. But his athleticism is obvious, and I suspect he'll be a playmaker on special teams.

-Speaking of special teams, in a special teams period on Saturday, Chimere Dike, KJ Osborn and Michael Carter took turns fielding punts.
