NASHVILLE – A lot has changed around Titans quarterback Cam Ward, from teammates to coaches to uniforms to even a new logo.
Ward said he's changed himself compared to a year ago, for the better.
"I am the same person," Ward said on Wednesday. "But I think I have become a better football player. I think that has been the biggest thing that I have changed. But I am the same person, keep the same routine. A lot of stuff has helped me get to this point so there is no big thing to change.
"But I'd say the biggest thing to change is just the approach, the way I see the game, and that is something (OC Brian) Daboll has emphasized to me – seeing the game not only through my eyes, but through the o-line and receivers' eyes as well."
As a rookie in 2025, Ward threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, with a passer rating of 80.3. He showed tremendous improvement in the final weeks of his rookie season.
Ward, who started all 17 games for the Titans in 2025, played every snap before suffering a right shoulder injury in the season finale at the Jaguars.
After rehabbing early in the offseason, Ward got healthy enough to take part in the OTAs and miniamp, and he was back on the field on Wednesday when the Titans kicked off training camp, completing 9-of-16 passes with two touchdowns on Day 1.
Ward is happy to be back.
"It's fun," Ward said. "It's finally for real now."
And, he feels like a different player heading into Year 2.
Ward thinks knowing situational football, and awareness of what others are supposed to do, will help him get the ball out, and play faster.
"(I feel) way different, from system to players to just my knowledge of being an NFL quarterback, it's been way better," Ward said. "I think the staff that we hired, both sides of the ball, has really been helpful for the players, what we want to do and making it easy for us so we can play fast. It's going to be an exciting time, exciting camp, and a good season."
