Bironas Sets NFL Mark With 51-Yard FG

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Titans kicker Rob Bironas has set an NFL record with a 51-yard field goal, giving him a field goal of 40 yards or longer in nine straight games.

Bironas had been tied with Morten Andersen (1990-91) and Jeff Wilkins (2005-06) with a field goal of 40 yards or longer in eight straight games, the longest mark since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

The Titans kicker hit a 51-yarder at 7:05 of the first quarter Saturday against Jacksonville. He is the first kicker whose streak is in a single season.

Bironas is the NFL's all-time leader in field goal accuracy 40 yards or longer with a minimum of 100 attempts at 78 percent.
