Biography

PRO: The Titans signed Jacob Martin early in the 2026 free agency period to add a proven pass rusher to the defensive end position. The 6-foot-2-inch, 242-pounder was originally selected by the Seattle Seahakws in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and spent his rookie NFL campaign with the club.  He was traded to the Houston Texans in 2019 and spent the next three seasons with the organization.  The Temple product  has also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders.  Prior to his arrival with the Titans, Martin appeared in 119 games and amassed 134 tackles, 26.5 sacks, 181 quarterback pressures, six passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:  
• In 2025, Martin collected career-highs with 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 44 quarterback pressures in his lone season with the Commanders.
• In 2021, Martin played in all 17 games with 14 starts for the Texans and tallied 23 tackles, four sacks, 37 quarterback pressures, five tackles for loss and three passes defensed.

TITANS TIDBITS:  
• Jacob's brother, Josh Martin, had an eight-year NFL playing career as a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, N.Y. Jets and New Orleans Saints.
• Martin is a dog lover and has three of his own. In 2025, he partnered with Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington D.C. to host a Tails & Tailgate event to help bring people and pups together for animal rescue. He also spearheaded a "55 Rescue Drive," helping reduce adoption fees for large dogs and shining a spotlight on some of the longer-stay shelter pups. He then capped off the year with a special holiday vaccine clinic, surprising pet owners with free care and inspiring others to give back.

• Traded by the Jets with a 2024 fifth-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick on Nov. 1, 2022.
• Released by the Broncos on May 10, 2023.
• Signed by the Texans as a free agent on May 22, 2023.
• Released by the Texans on Aug. 29, 2023.
• Signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent on Aug. 31, 2023.
• Signed by the Chicago Bears as an unrestricted free agent on March 17, 2024.
• Signed by the Washington Commnaders as an unrestricted free agent on March 18, 2025.
• Signed by the Titans as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2026.

SEASON RECAPS:

2025 (17/14 - Washington):  Played in all 17 games with 14 starts for the Commanders and posted career-bests with 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 44 quarterback pressures.  Added three stops for loss, a forced fumble and a pass defensed.
• At Kansas City (10/27), notched a career-high two sacks against Patrick Mahomes to go along with four quarterback pressures.
• At Miami (11/16), posted two tackles, including an 11-yard sack of Tua Tagovailoa.
• Against Philadelphia (12/20), recorded two tackles, including a five-yard strip-sack of Jalen Hurts in the second quarter.

2024 (11/0 - Chicago):  Appeared in 11 games as a reserve with the Bears and recorded 14 tackles, three sacks, 17 quarterback pressures, three stops for loss, a pass defensed and a special teams stop.  Placed on injured reserve on Aug. 27 and missed the first six contests of the season.
• At Arizona (11/3), notched three tackles, a six-yard sack of Kyler Murray and another stop for loss.
• Against New England (11/10), collected three tackles, including a sack for the second consecutive contest when he dropped Drake Maye on third-and-four on the opening drive of the game.

2023 (17/0 - Indianapolis):  Appeared as a reserve in all 17 games in his only season with the Colts and recorded seven tackles, two sacks, 13 quarterback pressures and a tackle for loss. 
• At Houston (9/17), sacked C.J. Stroud for an 11-yard loss late in the fourth quarter.
• At Tennessee (12/3), dropped Will Levis for a sack on the final play of the third quarter.

2022 (8/0 - N.Y. Jets; 5/0 - Denver):  Played as a reserve in a combined 13 games with the Jets and Broncos and notched 14 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 21 quarterback pressures, two stops for loss and a forced fumble.  Saw action as a reserve in the first eight games of the season with the Jets and recorded eight tackles, including a 1.5 sacks, 14 quarterback pressures and a forced fumble.  Traded from the Jets to Broncos on Nov. 1.  Appeared in five contests for the Broncos and tallied six tackles, a sack, seven quarterback pressures and two stops for loss.  Placed on injured reserve on Dec. 14 and missed Denver's final four games. 
• Against New England (10/30), collected a seven-yard strip-sack of Mac Jones in his final game with the Jets.
• At Tennessee (11/13), dropped Ryan Tannehill for an 11-yard sack on third-and-10 in his first career contest with the Broncos.

2021 (17/14 - Houston):  Appeared in all 17 games with 14 starts and set then career-highs with 23 tackles, four sacks, 37 quarterback pressures, five tackles for loss and three passes defensed. 
• At Miami (11/7), compiled three tackles, including a five-yard strip-sack of Jacoby Brissett with the fumble being recovered by Maliek Collins at the Texans' 40-yard line.
• At Tennessee (11/21), notched two tackles, including a strip-sack of Ryan Tannehill, but the loose ball was recovered by the Titans. Posted a career-best six quarterback pressures.
• Against N.Y. Jets (11/28), posted two tackles, including a sack for the third consecutive game when he brought down Zach Wilson for a nine-yard loss on third-and-four in the first quarter.

2020 (14/1 - Houston):  Played in 14 games with one start and registered 20 tackles, three sacks, 16 quarterback pressures, three stops for loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a pass defensed.  Missed two games on the reserve/COVID-19 list.  
• At Kansas City (9/10), posted two tackles, including an eight-yard sack of Patrick Mahomes in the season opener.
• Against Jacksonville (10/11), notched three tackles, including a two-yard strip sack of Gardner Minshew II that was recovered by Whitney Mercilus.
• Against Cincinnati (12/27), made his first NFL start and amassed a season-best four tackles, including a stop for loss.

2019 (14/0, 2/0 - Houston):  Saw action as a reserve in 14 games in his first season with the Texans and posted 11 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 15 quarterback pressures, three stops for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.  Was inactive for the final two regular season contests.  Played as a reserve in both postseason matchups and collected two tackles, including a sack, a quarterback pressure and a fumble recovery.
• Against Indianapolis (11/21), dropped Jacoby Brissett for an eight-yard sack on third-and-six early in the opening quarter.
• Against New England (12/1), registered a season-best three tackles, including 1.5 sacks of Tom Brady.
• Against Buffalo (1/4), dropped Josh Allen for a 19-yard sack on fourth-and-27 late in the final stanza. Recovered an Allen fumble after a Whitney Mercilus sack early in the fourth quarter.

2018 (16/0, 1/0 - Seattle):  Appeared as a reserve in all 16 games as a rookie and recorded six tackles, three sacks, 18 quarterback pressures, two stops for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.  Also added four special teams tackles.  Saw action in his first career postseason contest and tallied three tackles, a quarterback pressure and a special teams stop.
• At Denver (9/9), made his NFL debut as a reserve
• Against Green Bay (11/15), collected his first career sack. Dropped Aaron Rodgers for a six-yard sack on third-and-10 in the third quarter.
• Against Arizona (12/30), posted two tackles, including a seven-yard strip-sack of Josh Rosen and the fumble was recovered by Frank Clark at the Cardinals 34-yard line.
• At Dallas (1/5), made his postseason debut and amassed three tackles, a quarterback pressure and a special teams stop.

COLLEGE: 
• Played four seasons at Temple University (2014-17) and appeared in 50 games with 15 starts. Tallied 80 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 17.5 stops for loss, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) during his career with the Owls.
• As a senior (2017), selected second-team All-American Athletic Conference after finishing second on the team with eight sacks, second with 11 stops for loss, first with two fumble recoveries and tied for second with two forced fumbles, while recording 44 tackles.
• As a junior (2016), played in 12 games with one start and recorded 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2.5 stops for loss and two passes defensed. Was awarded with a single-digit jersey (went from 91 to 9). Temple awards single digit numbers to the toughest players on the team as voted on by the players.
• As a sophomore (2015), played in all but one game as a part of a defensive line rotation and on special teams. Notched five tackles, including a sack and 2.5 stops for loss.
• As a true freshman (2014), saw action in 12 games with two starts and notched 13 tackles, 1.5 stops for loss and a fumble recovery. Was one of two true freshmen to see significant action.
• Graduated with a degree in journalism from Temple in 2018.

PERSONAL:  
• Attended Cherokee Trail (Colo.) High School where he played defensive end.
• As a senior (2013), helped lead the Cougars to a 10-3 record by posting 44 tackles, 5.5 sacks and eight stops for loss.
