How were you trying to, maybe you know Chimere Dike and Cam Ward as well, bring a spark to the team when things were going the way they were?
Yeah, I mean ultimately, the only thing you can really do is do your job until the best of your ability, right? If everybody could do that, that's where the spark really comes from. So it's really not up to one person or another, we just happen to be the ones at that point.
Have you talked to Cam at all after this one and have you guys had a discussion about how things are starting for your rookie year?
I mean I just told him, 'I appreciate you man.' Like honestly I'm always grateful to be out here with my guys, because I always know that they have my back. Really, I feel like there's a good relationship. So, I always just tell all my guys Chim (Dike), Van (Jefferson), Rid (Calvin Ridley), Cam (Ward), everybody that I appreciate them.
What's the key to not getting discouraged?
I don't know if there's any secret. You really just got to keep putting one foot in front of the other, you know, one snap at a time, one moment at a time, one day at a time. That's really all you can do.
How tough are these games where you keep getting off the slow starts and it seems like you're climbing uphill all day?
Yeah, I mean, that (expletive) sucks. Nobody wants to start the season like that or start a game like that. But at the end of the day, like (expletive) going to happen, and you just got to keep, like I said, one foot in front of the other.
What did you see on that (touchdown) play, what happened?
Ultimately, my job on that play is really just to find the soft spot in the zone and Cam's (Ward) going throw it low to me and I've just got to catch it. That's how you practice it and that's how it happened.
The chemistry you guys are building, how do you think that's going between you two, you and Cam?
Yeah, good. I think honestly, like to me, whenever he throws me a ball, I just try to catch it. That's all I try to do.
