NASHVILLE – The player-for-player trade between the Titans and Jets became official on Thursday.

The Titans are receiving edge rusher Jermaine Johnson in exchange for nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat.

With the league year starting on Wednesday, and Johnson in town on Thursday, the trade was officially processed by the NFL.

Johnson will be reunited with Titans coach Robert Saleh, who coached the Jets when they selected Johnson with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Johnson also rejoins new Titans defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton, who was his position coach with the Jets his first three seasons.

Johnson was a Pro Bowl performer with the Jets in 2023, when he posted a career-high 7.5 sacks and 55 tackles while starting all 17 games. Johnson's 2024 season ended at Nissan Stadium when he tore an Achilles in Week 2. Johnson had three sacks in 2025, along with 43 tackles and six quarterback hits.

In 47 games over four seasons with the Jets, Johnson tallied 131 tackles, 13 sacks, 27 quarterback hits and 20 tackles for a loss.

Sweat, second-round pick of the Titans in 2024, posted 85 tackles and three sacks in 29 games over two seasons in Tennessee.
