NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans open the 2013 season at the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 8th, and they will be featured in a November primetime game against division rival Indianapolis. Tennessee opens its home schedule on September 22nd against San Diego and will host the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers on October 20th.

"It is always an exciting time when the schedule is released – to finally see how the games fall and be able to focus on those first few teams," said head coach Mike Munchak.

"Opening in Pittsburgh is a special atmosphere and obviously a very familiar rival through the years.

"The schedule this season has an interesting structure. Two games on the road is a tough way to open for us and our fans, but that is balanced out with three in a row at home. It is the runs away from home at the end of the preseason and into the regular season and then the stretch near the end of the season that jumped out at me initially, but you can always find pluses and minuses in any schedule.

"I am happy that we received a home primetime game to showcase our team, our city and our fans to a national audience.

The Titans schedule features home games against Kansas City, San Diego, Arizona, San Francisco, New York Jets, Houston, Indianapolis and Jacksonville. Tennessee will travel to Denver, Oakland, St. Louis, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Houston, Indianapolis and Jacksonville.

Again this year, the NFL will feature "flexible scheduling" for the Sunday night game in Weeks 11-17. Teams will be given two weeks notice if a game is moving from an afternoon game to a night contest.

The Titans 2013 schedule contains several interesting stories:

• The schedule features seven games against 2012 playoff teams: Houston (twice), Indianapolis (twice), San Francisco, Denver and Seattle.

• The Titans and Steelers will play each other for the sixth consecutive season, and it will be the third time the Titans have opened the season in Pittsburgh over the last nine years (2013, 2009, 2005).

• This marks the first time since 1994 that the franchise has opened the season with two consecutive road games.
