NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans (0-0) launch their season this week on the road against the Denver Broncos (0-0). Kickoff at Empower Field at Mile High (capacity 76,125) is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. MDT/3:05 p.m. CDT on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Sunday marks the fourth season opener in Titans/Oilers history against the Broncos and the second in a six-year span. The Titans traveled to Mile High for a Monday night opener in 2020, and in a stadium without fans present due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they won 16-14. Prior to 2020, the last Week 1 meeting between the franchises was a 30-17 Oilers loss at Denver in 1972, preceded by an Oilers home win in 1966.

The contest will be regionally televised on FOX, including Nashville affiliate WZTV FOX 17. The broadcast team includes play-by-play announcer Adam Amin, analyst Mark Sanchez and reporter Kristina Pink.

CALLAHAN, BORGONZI AND WARD BEGIN FIRST SEASON TOGETHER
Head coach Brian Callahan is entering his second campaign in Tennessee. He was hired as the 20th head coach in franchise history in 2024 after serving five seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. With the trip to Denver, he returns to where his NFL coaching career began in 2010. His tenure on the Broncos coaching staff lasted six seasons, highlighted by the team's victory in Super Bowl 50.
Early in the 2025 offseason, the Titans hired Mike Borgonzi as the 15th general manager in franchise history. Borgonzi spent the past 16 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, most recently in the role of assistant general manager. During his time in Kansas City, he contributed to 12 playoff seasons, 10 AFC West titles (2010, 2016-24) and three Super Bowl victories (2019, 2022-23).
With Borgonzi's first pick as general manager, the Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward became the first No. 1 overall pick for the franchise since running back Earl Campbell in 1978. In five total college seasons at Incarnate Word (2020-21), Washington State (2022-23) and Miami (2024), Ward passed for 18,184 total yards and set an NCAA Division I (FBS/FCS) record with 158 career passing touchdowns. In his one campaign with the Hurricanes, he was named first-team AP All-American after throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Ward started each of the Titans' three preseason matchups. His preseason numbers included 10 completions and 145 yards on 19 passing attempts. This week, he can join Marcus Mariota (2015) as the only rookie quarterbacks in franchise history to start a season opener.
THE BRONCOS
Head coach Sean Payton is entering his third season with the Broncos. In 2024, he led Denver to a 10-7 record and a wild card playoff berth. It was the team's first playoff appearance since 2015.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. As a rookie, the former Oregon and Auburn college standout started all 17 games and passed for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
