Biography
PRO: The Titans signed Tyren Montgomery as a rookie free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11-inch, 204-pounder is an athletic, tough-minded, instinctive wide receiver. The Woodlands, Texas, native set single-season school records for catches (119), receiving yards (1,528) and touchdown grabs (17) and finished as John Carroll's all-time leading receiving yardage leader (2,600), despite spending only two years in the program and only playing football for two years prior to joining John Carroll.
TITANS TIDBITS:
• Montgomery has had a unique journey to the NFL. Growing up, he was focused solely on basketball. He did not run his first route until he was 19 years old and didn't play in his first tackle football game until he was 22.
• Montgomery was the only Division III player to attend the Senior Bowl in 2026.
• His parents had over 30 years of military service between the two of them. He said their service instilled discipline in both him and his brother. Unfortunately, his mother fell ill with cancer in 2019 and passed away in June of 2025.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Woodlands, Texas, native was signed by the Titans as a rookie free agent on April 30, 2026.
COLLEGE:
• Saw action in 26 games over two seasons (2024-25) at John Carroll and totaled 176 receptions for 2,599 yards with 32 touchdowns. His 2,599 receiving yards set the school record. Added 15 rushing attempts for 288 yards with four touchdowns. Spent two seasons on the Nicholls State football team (2022-23) where he appeared in eight games. Began his college career at Louisiana State as a member of the basketball team.
AS A GRADUATE (2025), played in 14 games and totaled 119 receptions for 1,528 yards with 15 touchdowns. His recepetions and receiving yards total set the school single-season reception record. Named second team AFCA All-American, AP second team All-American and first team All-NCAC.
• At Johns Hopkins (9/13), caught 12 passes for 152 yards with a touchdown.
• Against Oberlin (9/20), had five receptions for 120 yards with two touchdowns. Also rushed once for 21 yards.
• At Wittenberg (10/11), tallied 12 receptions for 122 yards with two touchdowns.
• At DePauw (10/18), had 12 receptions for 109 yards with three touchdowns.
• At North Central (12/20), accumulated 136 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions. Also had a 10-yard rush.
AS A SENIOR (2024), played in 12 games and totaled 57 receptions for 1,071 yards with 17 touchdowns. His 17 touchdowns set a single-season school record. Added eight rushing attempts for 184 yards with three touchdowns. Named OAC Ed Sherman Wide Receiver of the Year and All-OAC first team.
• At Muskingum (10/5), recorded five receptions for 115 yards with two touchdowns.
• At Wilmington (10/26), had six receptions for 122 yards with three touchdowns. Added two rushing attempts for 33 yards with a touchdown.
• At Wittenberg (10/11), tallied 12 receptions for 122 yards with two touchdowns.
• At Ohio Northern (11/2), had five receptions for 176 yards with three touchdowns.
• At North Central (12/20), caught 10 passes for 145 yards with two touchdowns. Added a 63-yard rushing touchdown.
AS A JUNIOR (2023), appeared in eight games with four starts and recorded 12 receptions for 171 yards. Transferred to John Carroll University due to eligibility requirements.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2022), joined the Nicholls State football team but was ineligible and had to sit out the season.
IN 2021, played on a flag football team in Las Vegas.
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2020), attempted to walk-on at the Univestiy of Houston but when the COVID-19 pandemic hit that derailed his plans. Spent the year at home with his family learning to play flag football for the first time and attending classes at nearby Lone Star College.
AS A FRESHMAN (2019), was a member of the Louisiana State basketball program as a walk-on. Spent one semester with the Tigers before returning home to care for his mother who fell ill with cancer.
• Graduated with a degree in digital marketing/communication from John Carroll in May 2026.
PERSONAL:
• Attended Woodlands College Park (Texas) High School where he was a standout basketball player.
• As a senior (2018), was a team captain for the basketball team and averaged 10 points, 3.4 rebounds and two assists per game.
• Son of the late Tara and Greg Montgomery. Has a younger brother named Kam.
