Biography

PRO: The Titans selected Jaylen Harrell in the seventh round (252nd overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4-inch, 247-pounder brings versatility in both run and pass defense to the linebacker core. Harrell appeared in 17 games as a rookie and recorded nine tackles, three quarterback pressures and two stops for loss to go along with four special teams tackles. During his four years with the Michigan Wolverines, he compiled 78 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups in a career that ended in three straight Big Ten Championships (2021-23) and a College Football Playoff National Title (2023).

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• During his time in Ann Arbor, Harrell was Academic All-Big Ten three times (2021-23) and was selected All-Big Ten honorable mention twice (2022-23).

• His father, James, played linebacker in the NFL for the Detriot Lions (1979-83, 85-86) and the Kansas City Chiefs (1987). He also played for the USFL's Tampa Bay Bandits from 1984-85.

• The Tampa, Fla., native was selected in the seventh round (252nd overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE:
• Appeared in 46 games with 31 starts in four years at the University of Michigan (2020-23). Accumulated 78 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles and three passes defensed while being named All-Big Ten honorable mention two times by coaches and media. During his time in Ann Arbor, Harrell was Academic All-Big Ten three times (2021-23) and All-Big Ten honorable mention twice (2022-23).
• As a senior (2023), started all 15 games for the national champion Wolverines, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention and Academic All-Big Ten honors. Tallied 31 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup.
• As a junior (2022), saw action in 13 games with 12 starts at edge. Earned his third varsity letter and was selected All-Big Ten honorable mention after compiling 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Added five quarterback hurries and two passes defensed.
• As a sophomore (2021), played in all 14 games and made three starts at linebacker. Amassed 15 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss, earning his second varsity letter.
• As a freshman (2020), earned his first varsity letter after appearing in four games. Made two tackles and shared Defensive Player of the Week honors for helping prepare the team for the Minnesota game.

PERSONAL:
• Attended Berkeley Preparatory School (Tampa, Fla.) and was coached by Dominick Ciao (2016-20). Harrell was a four-year starter on varsity and a team captain his senior year (2020). Playing defensive end, linebacker, running back, fullback and tight end in high school, he helped the Bucks reach the second round of the state Class 3A Playoffs as a senior.
• Ranked a four-star recruit, the 12th-rated wideside defensive end, the 52nd-best recruit in Florida and the 301st overall recruit in the nation by 247Sports composite. A ESPN300 member, he was rated as the No. 4 player at his position, the No. 27 prospect in Florida and the 172nd overall player nationally. Selected MaxPreps Sophomore and Junior All-American and a candidate for the 2019 High School Butkus Award.
• As a junior (2018), posted career-highs with 106 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and five sacks.
• Named the team's defensive MVP in both his junor and senior season.
